Local businesses give a community its flavor. Towns across America have similar chain restaurants, grocery and department stores but that diner down the street where you have breakfast every Saturday morning is one-of-a-kind. The combined presence of your town's many local businesses makes it different from every other city in the world. By supporting those businesses instead of chains, you ensure that uniqueness is preserved as a part of your community. The Virginia SBDC Network exists to help small businesses succeed. Here are some ways you can support your local small businesses: Shop local whenever you can - Next time you need something, see if one of the mom-and-pop shops has it. Those local businesses really appreciate the support. Spread the word about the cool local spots - If you find a great local restaurant, boutique, or service provider, tell your friends and family about it. Leave some positive reviews online too - that really helps get the word out. Give feedback to the owners - If you have a good experience (or even if you don't), let the small business owner know. They really value hearing directly from customers on how they're doing. And remember, small businesses often have different capabilities than the big chains. Just be patient and flexible - your support really counts! #localbusinessdirectory #localbusiness #MarketSuccess #WAHSupportsYou #SouthAfricanBusinessDirectory #businesslistingplatform #HomegrownSuccess #GrowWithWAH #SupportSmallBusiness #NeighborhoodGems #localbusinessgrowth

Small business owners can probably relate to the hard work we do behind the scenes. Our café may be temporarily closed, but I’ve already learned so much! One key lesson was that foot traffic isn’t automatic. Just because you have a shop with all the necessary signage doesn’t mean people will naturally walk in. I was reminded of the importance of going back to basics; adding a personal touch. We decided to reach out to the two construction sites across the street. We introduced ourselves, shared free drinks, and told them what we’re all about. After that visit, a few of them started coming by; they already knew us, felt welcome, and the vibe was great all around. It was a solid reminder for me to focus on the fundamentals, and I’m eager to apply this lesson when we reopen. Do you have a lesson or tip for managing a small business that you’d like to share with us? Cheers, Zuzo #SmallBusinessJourney #BehindTheScenes #EntrepreneurLife #BusinessLessons #CafeLife #BuildingConnections #CommunityFirst #VancouverBusiness #WomenInBusiness #SupportLocal
