Nice to see our Scottish 'export' being so useful in other countries. Highland cattle are becoming more numerous in Scotland's landscape and more popular with what I would consider 'conventional' farmers. 🌿🐂 Exciting News from the Swabian Donaumoos! Seven young farmers have come together to form a partnership (GbR) to graze robust cattle breeds, specifically Scottish Highland cattle, in the re-wetted nature reserve. Why is this special? 🤔 To re-wet moors, agricultural land is often affected. But here, grazing in the nature reserve actually provides land for agriculture! These farmers and their animals are taking on vital landscape maintenance by keeping the wetlands open. 🌾🌍 Thanks to the recognition of this grazing area as agricultural land, the farmers can receive agricultural subsidies, making extensive grazing profitable for them. 💰🚜 This initiative proves that moor protection and agriculture can go hand in hand! 👐🌱 #SustainableFarming #MoorProtection #HighlandCattle #NatureConservation #AgricultureInnovation #YoungFarmers #SustainableAgriculture
