You never know who in my connections needs to see this reminder but Samaritans are a fantastic organisation. I volunteered with them and learned so much from my time here: 1. You don't have to be at 'rock bottom' before you decide to ring, like with any problem, the earlier you decide to address it, the easier it is to resolve 2. Samaritans don't offer advise. Most people don't want advise on their problems. Typically as a friend or family member, when we hear someone discussing an issue they are having, we all jump to save the day "have you tried this..", "definitely do that..", "all you need to do is XYZ simple!", rather than just appreciating that they are really struggling with something and saying "wow that's really tough, I'm here if you need to talk about it" may be the best response. 3. Telling you about a problem and talking about a problem are different things! 4. We have no idea what impact we have on other people's lives. If someone is already struggling and you beep the horn at them or bump off them when you pass and don't apologise or even if someone lets you out of a busy junction and you don't gesture a thanks, all these things can be 'the last straw' so be kind to people 5. You can be lonely even though you are surrounded by people. If someone is eager to talk to you, they don't always have to have an ulterior motive, you may be the first or only person they've spoken to that day. If you're struggling, please get the help that you deserve, there are so many people that want to help you and there is kindness in this world. For anyone else reading this far, please remember to be kind 💕 Have a wonderful Samaritans Awareness Day everyone!

It's #SamaritansAwarenessDay today @MentalHealthAdvisor says today is also known as "The Big Listen and it's a day to emphasise the importance of mental health in the workplace. The groundbreaking, Thriving at Work Report found that stress, depression, and anxiety account for 44% of all work-related ill health days, leading to 54% of lost working days. With 1 in 6 adults experiencing a mental health problem, it's clear that addressing mental health is crucial for both individual wellbeing and organisational productivity." #mentalhealth

We as PSW are there not to earn living or simply satisfied we are given an employment opportunity but what is more important is that we are representing voiceless service users who are crying out for help and looking up to us as their role models who they expect will be authentic in their efforts as they relate more to us than other professionals. Also they see us as those who understands their experiences more than anyone else and expect us to speak on behalf of them and raise most pressing issues that affect them badly such as medications and the severe side effects they cause to their lives and their existence as human beings who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect but instead they felt helpless and demoralised as often the case ,suffering moral injuries due to how they are treated in general leaving them in a state of hopelessness where a lot of them give up life and commit suicide so it is time a lot of weight is put behind researches that finds the real truth why so many antipsychotic medications are given service users even it is widely known they cause more harm than good. The question is if it is preferred to be kept under the lid as pharmaceutical companies cannot be challenged or patients have a lesser value!

You won't always be at 100%, and that’s okay. What matters is recognizing it and finding ways to keep moving forward, even on the tough days. Progress isn’t always linear, but it’s always possible. 3 things I’ve found helpful for improving work even when you’re not at your best: 01. Prioritize tasks – Focus on what’s essential and break it down into smaller steps. 02. Take short breaks – A few minutes to reset can bring clarity and help you regain focus. 03. Lean on your team – Don’t be afraid to ask for help or delegate when needed. Collaboration can lighten the load.

THIS is the LinkedIn content I want to see... 2023 can keep the hustle culture pep talks, the fortune cookie wisdom that makes no sense, and the performative posts. Give me pets. Give me authentic discussions about work challenges and wellbeing. Give me thoughtful insights that you (not a bot) wrote. As the Tw-exodus continues, LinkedIn is one of the key places to talk about what we do, why we do it, and how we are. Let's play our part in making this a better place to talk about work.
I don't see enough of everyone's favorite coworkers (wfh edition) on LinkedIn so I'm gonna be that person. Hermione is top employee at EmFox Corporation. She has been employee of the month since March 2020. She now holds a combination of community expertise and top tier support experience with a focus in being adorable and napping. Share yours below. If you want to, I'm just unashamedly sharing my dog to help break up the doomscrolls.
