This year, at LandmArch. landscape architecture we celebrate all efforts made by my team in order to promote #sustainability as a tool for #peace and #prosperity in a world full of extreme challenges. Presenting our scientific research under the theme "Social Sustainability as a tool towards Sustainable Urban Development" at the #iflaworldcongress #IFLA2023, was a privilege that allowed me to emphasize the crucial role #women play in promoting #inclusion, and peace, with a focus on #socialsustainability. https://lnkd.in/dVH2FW_n Delicately addressing the significance of shaping social behaviors, respecting the environment, empowering local economies, and safeguarding human rights, I aspire to be a subtle yet impactful #ForceForChange. Setting #socialequity as my primary goal, I underscore that women in science are integral architects of sustainable urban environments. This aligns seamlessly with the theme "CONSIDERING PEOPLE AND POLICY," showcasing how scientific endeavors can harmonize with societal needs for a more inclusive and peaceful world. As we observe International Day of Women in Science 2024, let's reflect on the impact of collective efforts. The day is observed by the United Nations to promote full and equal access and participation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (#STEM) fields. This year will be the ninth International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly. Recognising the role of women and girls in science as agents of change, including in view of accelerating progress towards the achievement of SDGs 16 and 17, the 9th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly’s main theme is: “Women and Girls in Science Leadership, a New Era for Sustainability” and the subtheme is “Think Science … Think Peace” #landmArch. #socialsustainability #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #engineering #WomenInScience

Echoing the message from Antonio Guterres at the 68th Commission on the Status of Women today's opening session, women need to be included in designing the physical structures of our cities, our digital technologies and AI algorithms. Here is a blog I recently wrote based on some known and emergent research on the connection between homogeneous practice and outcomes that impact our built, natural and digital environment. Navigating the Architectural Landscape as a Woman The architectural field, historically male-dominated, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. As a woman in this dynamic industry, I witness and contribute to this evolution daily. Today, more women are breaking barriers, leading innovative projects, and reshaping skylines with their unique perspectives. From my experience, the journey isn't without its challenges. Navigating biases and underrepresentation requires resilience and a strong support network. Yet, these obstacles also pave the way for growth and innovation. Women bring a fresh approach to design, emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and community-centric solutions. Networking and mentorship play pivotal roles in this journey. Building connections with like-minded professionals and seeking guidance from seasoned architects empower us to overcome hurdles and seize opportunities. Organizations and initiatives dedicated to supporting women in architecture are also crucial in fostering a more inclusive environment. The architectural landscape is vibrant and full of potential for women.
