Geographical Indications are a powerful driver of territorial competitiveness, especially in gastronomy and tourism. Their history, artisanal production techniques, and exceptional quality make them a genuine expression of Europe’s heritage. In this context, intellectual property rights and international protection are critical components in the effort to explore new opportunities for growth and counter the increasing threats of imitation and evocation. From the Lisbon Agreement to Regulation (EU) 2024/1143, the protection of the Asiago Geographical Indication will be showcased as a best practice, alongside its ongoing journey toward sustainability. This will be presented by Director Flavio Innocenzi at the international conference, “Geographical Indications and Collective Marks: Tradition, Quality, and Identity for Sustainable Competitiveness,” taking place on November 25–26, 2024. The event, organized by the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) in collaboration with the European Commission, Slovenian and European institutions in economy and tourism, the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, and the EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office, will be held at the Brdo Congress Center. #AsiagoPDO #AsiagoPDOcheese #PDO #PGI #SIPO #WIPO #EUIPO #EU

Poland can boast a place in the 🌍 global top 5 best locations for establishing business service centers. But the government should closely listen to the voices of investors, as our position cannot be taken for granted. The competition is fierce and waiting to take over some of the services performed in Poland. With their governments working together on solutions that are beneficial to the sector, they may succeed. ➡️ The modern business services sector accounts for 4.5% of our GDP, $30 billion in exports and 435,000 high-quality jobs. ➡️ Dialogue with foreign investors locating business service centers in the country is crucial to the development of Polish competitiveness. Such growth also benefits local companies, as each investment brings with it a range of other jobs. ➡️ The ecosystem of business centers needs providers of IT services and equipment, but also office servicing, etc. These are vessels connected in a network of more than 1,800 centers that operate in nearly 90 Polish cities - both larger and smaller. Hungary's creative contribution to Europe Our neighbouring country is deeply Central European, but it also unites cultures outside our home continent. Hungary's current economic orientation towards Beijing, Istanbul, but also New Delhi and other emerging markets, as well as its difficulty in breaking away from Moscow, have historical roots. Hungarian culture has many Asian influences. 40,000 Hungarian craft enterprises (usually 1-10 employees) in more than 200 trades are represented by IPOSZ (Ipartestültek Országos Szövetsége / Hungarian Association of Craft Enterprises / SMEunited) through a network of 139 territorially and 20 nationally organised associations. As much as the cultural richness of these small and medium-sized enterprises makes an important contribution to Europe's diversity, they also suffer from problems similar to those in other EU member states. These include excessive EU regulation, especially in recent years, and the resulting weakening of competitiveness. We would like to thank László Németh, János Juhos, Gábor Solti and Rettich Tamás for the interesting exchange of experiences. The position papers of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to reduce regulatory burden and reporting obligations at EU level with 88 concrete proposals for implementation were also well received by IPOSZ. The next SME meeting organised by the EU Commission will take place in Budapest on 18-20 November, due to the Hungarian Presidency. This is another important contribution to improving Europe's economic future. We stay tuned - Christian Mandl, Philipp Schramel, Orsolya Krammer-Szányi, Karin Jessernigg-Putz, Marlene Lales, Yasmin Soetopo, Ulrike Hassmann-Vorbach, Barbara Schennach, Heinz Kogler, Iris Marlovits, Lara Condell, Christian H. Schierer and Gudrun Hager #StrategicCapitalNetworking #hungarianEUpresidency #WorkingProgramme
