Learning about Premenstrual Disorders helps all of us. The ones who suffer. The ones who may suffer. The ones who used to suffer. The ones who have loved ones who suffer. The ones who interact with someone who suffers. The ones who lost someone who suffered. In many ways, we are so different. We live in different places. We do different things. We have different interests. Some of us have dogs. Some of us don't. Some of us have kids. Some of us don't. Some of us enjoy hiking. Some of us really don't. (Some of us don't stretch either.) Some of us even love dancing with cats. Some of us would never. Where we are similar is in wanting to be understood...or wanting to understand. Some of us want help with our PMDs. And some of us want to be able to navigate and empathize with a disorder we don't experience. To the people who go above and beyond to spread PMD awareness, we are so grateful. Premenstrual Disorders have the potential to directly or indirectly affect just about anyone. So join us in putting on some TEAL (blue/green) and DONATE today! Let's reach our $10K goal! Often, when a person experiencing addiction relapses, they can feel hopeless, isolated, and despondent. However, just because a person relapses doesn’t mean that another course of treatment will not work. Experiencing addiction can feel incredibly isolating. People who experience it often believe no one else feels the way they do, which is why community and support are crucial to the work we do at Simon House. Our 12-week program includes group counselling sessions, house meetings, and other elements of communal support so that all our clients see that others are experiencing similar problems. After graduation from our 12-week program, we also offer services and support that mean alumni always have a place to turn to. Our graduates share stories, successes, and guidance along the way to ensure everyone who comes through Simon House knows that they are not alone. Grants and donations fund all our services. SPREADING AWARENESS Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, As some of you may know, November is Mens mental health month. A lot of my friends and many of you may be taking part in Movember to help spread awareness, if only I could grow a mustache! 😁 The Statistics: · In the UK, there are roughly 6,500 registered suicides each year, a staggering 75% of which are men. · Three times as many men die by suicide each year compared to women. · Despite this, only roughly 36% of referrals for talking therapies are for men. · Nearly three-quarters of adults who go missing are men. · 87% of rough sleepers are men. · Men are nearly three times as likely as women to become dependent on alcohol and three times as likely to report frequent drug use. · Men are more likely to be compulsorily detained (or ‘sectioned’) for treatment than women. · Men are more likely to be victims of violent crime (1.5 more likely than women). · Men make up the vast majority of the prison population. There are high rates of mental health problems and increased rates of self-harm in prisons. There are many great charities at work trying to support men all across the globe who might be struggling. To give my support I am taking part in a charity event in December raising money for a charity named Men Who Talk. The team at MWT provide support to Men who are struggling across the UK. If you would like to donate to my page all donations are grateful however this post is to highlight the impact that men’s mental health has on the world. Every life lost creates huge ripples that spread far and wide, Leaving years of heartache for their loved ones. If you are struggling at all with feelings of hopelessness or suicidal thoughts, please reach out. There is always light at the end of the tunnel and your loved ones will be forever grateful you were strong enough to reach out for support. Thank you for taking the time to read this, any way of spreading awareness for mental health is much appreciated! Earlier this year, NCVO published research on the true costs of public services, all about how government grants and contracts don't fully pay for charities' vital services, and what a risk this is for communities. This is an issue I am hugely passionate about, and it's now become all too real for Body & Soul Charity, where I've been a regular volunteer since 2018. Body & Soul is a multi-award-winning charity, transforming the life-threatening effects of trauma and childhood adversity in people of all ages across the nation. They offer evidence-based, holistic support that goes beyond immediate intervention. Their services help address the root causes of crises and trauma, helping people to not just cope, but rebuild their lives. Body & Soul provides support to multiple disadvantaged communities who have experienced complex trauma. Whether someone has been neglected or abused, stigmatised because of HIV or attempted suicide - they've helped liberate thousands of people from the trauma that controls them. Right now, they are at a tipping point. Without urgent funding, many people in need will slip through the cracks. So, will you be part of my Two Fifty Club and help me raise £250 towards keeping Body & Soul's life-saving, life-enriching services open for many years to come? https://lnkd.in/eSZ8A5X2
