The importance of sound. 🎧 Recently, I made this more or less simple edit that relies heavily on sound design. Here's a look at the timeline with and without the background music I put on the original video. I often use a bit of music to build excitement and emotion, however a good sound design requires a balance of music, foley, etc. This scale of layers is maybe a third of a usual project of mine, but I wanted to highlight how powerful sound design can be. Even with just a few layers to it. This one actually works as good or maybe even better with just the sound effects. Some nerdy info: Aerials is done with a DJI Inspire 2, with a 24mm equivalent camera, rev counter is filmed with a GoPro, and everything else is shot on a Sony FX3 with GM lenses. Everything is shot at 24 fps, with a 1/50th shutter. (Except for the GoPro and some of the drone shots.)
