What provider traits add up to strong patient loyalty? An Accenture survey showed that patient trust, healthcare access, and ease of doing business are key to patient loyalty. According to Accenture, 89 percent of patients who left a provider did so because of limited ease of navigation. Consider the patient to be the customer! Brief Thoughts on Patient Empowerment in the Modern Healthcare Landscape. Every year, patients seek care from four to five different healthcare providers, which suggests a problem with weak loyalty and, frequently, a failure to meet consumers' demands. Healthcare providers must learn everything they can about patients' behaviours, concentrate on customer-centric strategies, and closely monitor key performance indicators to ensure that their offerings align with patient preferences in order to stay competitive. From this angle, two main courses of action are required: 🔷 Getting knowledge about customer (patient) behaviours The healthcare system must change in order to acknowledge people as customers who have agency over their own healthcare choices, rewards, and encounters. When it comes to managing chronic health disorders like diabetes, heart failure, or renal disease, this understanding becomes increasingly important. The more information we can obtain about patients, the better the results will be for healthcare. This will set off events, not just clinical ones but also behavioural ones in particular. For example, doctors could better support their patients in following their treatment regimens and making the necessary lifestyle adjustments if they spent more quality time with them and if they developed excellent motivational skills. 🔷 Using customer-centred (patient-centred) KPIs Traditional patient satisfaction measurements, such as NPS scores, frequently underestimate patient loyalty, healthcare outcomes, and behaviour. Patient behaviour patterns, customer preferences, psychographic data, and PROMS (patient-reported outcome measures) should take precedence over transactional data in healthcare systems. It is important to know how valuable a patient feels. For example , a patient contemplating back surgery to treat a disc herniation would want to know about the anticipated improvement in mobility, recovery time, possible increase in discomfort, and the expense of the procedure. Understanding patient preferences and values can help healthcare providers tailor their services to meet individual needs, ultimately leading to higher patient satisfaction and loyalty. By focusing on patient-centred KPIs, healthcare systems can better measure the quality of care provided and improve overall patient outcomes. #healthcare #innovation #valueinhealth #Healthtech #newmodelofcare
