🧬 Join us in revisiting Melissa Haendel, PhD, Chief Research Informatics Officer at the University of Colorado's informative discussion on the differences between federated and centralised approaches in healthcare data. In our recent webinar on Data Harmonization, Melissa provided valuable observations on the nuances of these two strategies, shedding light on their impact on analytics and discovery-oriented questions. Melissa pointed out the limitations of using a federated approach in the United States due to the fragmented nature of healthcare data sharing across systems. Conversely, she emphasised the benefits of using a centralised approach for conducting discovery-oriented inquiries, such as identifying predictive factors for severe outcomes in specific patient demographics. 🎥 Immerse yourself in Melissa's insights and uncover practical methods to enhance your research efforts by watching our webinar on-demand: https://bit.ly/3xW3SM2 #DataHarmonization #PrecisionMedicine #LifebitWebinars #Lifebit

Providing healthcare professionals with a concise and clear overview of a new study requires that you keep a few things in mind: 1. What are the demographics of the patient population being studied? It is important to tell the reader so they know if the results can be extrapolated to include the patients in their own practice. 2. What are your word count limits? If you only have 500 words, make sure that—in addition to the patient population—you cover the key findings (include primary and secondary endpoints) and both efficacy and safety outcomes. And don't forget to include P values. 3. Can you get a quote? Whether from an investigator or an expert unaffiliated with the study in question, an original quote goes a long way. 4. Who is your audience and what do they need? Are you talking to specialists, PCPs, or both? This will influence how much background information you provide, the level of depth you include, and may impact your choice of quote.
