Today the BNSF Track Design Team volunteered at Taste Community Restaurant in Ft. Worth and it was great having the opportunity to serve others! Even better yet our engineering friends from several other firms came to support by enjoying their lunch and making donations. One of every six Americans faces the reality that they may not be able to provide for their next meal. There are programs in place that help; however, in Tarrant County, 36 percent of this food insecure population live above the poverty level and receive no government help. Taste project mission is to feed, educate, and serve our community so they may “…taste and see the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8. We believe everyone should have access to healthy nutritional food. Taste project vision is to see our community become the solution to the challenges our community faces as it relates to hunger. Taste project first project, a non-profit restaurant, focuses on healthy, quality meals made from fresh ingredients. Taste project menu has no prices. This is a give and take concept. We ask guests to do one of the following: 1) pay what you can afford, 2) pay what you would typically pay, or 3) pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra.

Our most popular item to rescue is certainly bagels, and we've been collecting them from a number of places, such as Uber Bagels & Deli. Because of this, our Founder and President has been nicknamed "The Bread Guy" by the friendly front desk faces at Helping Up Mission. What really makes the job of rescuing food so good is hearing from the community in need about how excited they are for donations coming their way. Those at Helping Up Mission enjoy the agency they have, by receiving these bagels, to make their own breakfast sandwiches the next morning. A popular recipe that's been mentioned by one of the front desk employees is an everything bagel, slightly toasted, with a slice of cheese, a fried egg, and a breakfast meat of your choice (could be bacon or sausage), all topped off with A.1. steak sauce. "It's a recipe that I made at home when I was little, and that just brings back great memories," he says. This past fall, the itec group volunteered at the Brantford Food Bank and discovered that donations often decline in the summer, likely due to the absence of festive holidays and busy summer schedules. Today, we returned to give back again, donating both our time and food. We sorted items by type and expiration date, achieving in three hours what would have taken their team three weeks! A reminder: the need for donations extends beyond peak holiday seasons like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Consider donating your time to help pack orders or sort items at your local food bank. Volunteers are crucial in keeping these services running for those in need. Puppies make a difference! By incorporating a touch of puppy love in our emails, we’ve increased our positive reply rate by 50%. For every email response we receive, regardless of its nature, we donate puppy food. Just last month, we donated 18,750 bowls of puppy food. Some clients hesitate to incorporate a charitable donation to puppies in their emails, thinking it might clash with their brand. But the data speaks for itself: people across all industries and management levels love puppies. This small touch catches attention and fosters a positive perception of the brand while feeding hungry pups! Imagine if replying to an email could help feed puppies. Love, love, love this campaign from Lidl 👇🏻 In celebration of World Bee Day, Lidl has put together this brilliant initiative, which helps support pollinators. Here's what they've done: 1. They've launched these new Bee'rs (Free bottles of syrup, which can be put down to help revive exhausted bees). 2. They've donated £10K to the British Bee Charity, to provide learning materials to 500 schools, educating them on the importance of bees and bio-diversity. 3. They've set up a simple landing page, with tips on how you can help bees and other pollinators. A great campaign for a great cause.

Bananas are Sterling's favorite treat. He prefers fruits and vegetables over meat, cheese, and peanut butter - the more "traditional" dog treats. If I didn't try offering options, we never would have learned about our nearly vegetarian pup. The same is true of your customers - how do you find out what matters if you don't ask/offer choices? Stop stocking your marketing shelves with water bottles and t-shirts...try curating options for customers that recognize them as people: networking experiences, meal gift cards for date night, water park passes for the family this summer, charitable donations to a special cause. World Food Day.. What is there to celebrate when people living with disabilities and our elderly need to march to parliament to begg and plea that food prices be dropped. These are our most vulnerable but they can't effort to buy proper food to ensure they have balance meals atleast three times a day. With the cost of food items being so expensive most people depend on Soup Kitchen to ensure they get atleast one meal per day. With bigger organizations who decided to donate only to certain much bigger NPO's it makes it very difficult for small NPO's like ours to receive donations to ensure we are able to feed our community on a regular basis. Mostly the ingredients comes out of our own pockets. World Food Day..what should have been a day where everyone should have been celebrated healthy eating etc , instead people sit in the hot sun only to be seen and heard. Is it not a human right to have access to food, why is it then that our most vulnerable does not have access to food. CHARS has tried for almost two years to get weekly/monthly sponsors to ensure that we can cook for our community atleast 3/4 times a week. Pledge your support to CHARS and ensure we are able to feed our community. Having atleast one or two meals per day should not be a luxury but our human right.
