In the evolving world of construction, effective moisture management is more crucial than ever. With advances in building codes, increased climate variability, and greater expectations for building longevity, construction teams are increasingly focusing on building envelope solutions to protect structures from the damaging effects of water infiltration. One of the most reliable ways to achieve this is through a well-designed rainscreen system. Learn more about rainscreens and how you can use a rainscreen system for your next project in our latest blog.

How can you reduce the environmental impact of your building with Single Ply roofing? Any new building or construction project will have an environmental impact, but there are several steps you can take to mitigate this impact and reduce any potential harm. A single ply roof for example can be a great option for residential, commercial, and industrial properties that are looking for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option. The construction of your single ply roof can help to reduce the environmental impact of the building in a number of ways; you should consider the following during the construction process to ensure this: · Water management · Energy Efficiency · ISO 14001:2015 certification and single ply roofing installations Single ply roofing can be a highly efficient option, and can boost energy efficiency in a number of ways, including: · A high reflectivity · Thermal Insulation · Durability and longevity For more information have a read of our blog in full: https://lnkd.in/e6y5R2BK #singleply #flatroofing #environmental #construction #maincontractor #reduce #efficiency #energy #architects #roofers The Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Jake Clarke Teruka Taylor Paul Gibney Claire Holden Ben O'Connor

Happy to share this recent article by Alan J. Siransky in CooperatorNews on the challenges and issues surrounding roof replacement. It features Michael Popeck, RRC Envelope Consultant, and myself Antonio Argibay AIA. We discuss some of the key issues of roof replacement, energy code, recreational use, and others. Until recently roofs were looked at as a boring aspect of the building envelope. Today roofs are recognized for their potential as recreational spaces and key areas to conserve energy and even harvest rainwater! https://lnkd.in/e89Mtp7w #envelopeconsulting #roofdesign #residentialbuilding #FacilityManager #energycode

Infiltration refers to the ingress of outdoor air into a building via cracks, crevices, and other unintended openings, as well as through the routine operation of exterior doors for ingress and egress purposes. It is synonymous with air leakage, and it plays a significant role in determining the overall energy efficiency and indoor air quality of a structure. 🌬️ Walls and ceilings, which account for more than half of the air leakage distribution in residential buildings, are particularly susceptible to infiltration. This may explain why building codes, such as ASHRAE Standard 62.2 in the US or the National Building Code of Canada (NRCC 2010), and green building certification programs, such as PassivHaus, encourage tighter envelope construction. 🏠 Effective strategies for mitigating infiltration include air-sealing measures, such as caulking and weatherstripping, and the proper selection and installation of doors and windows to minimise air leakage. 🔧

Having been involved with helping create ideal indoor environments in buildings for over 2 decades, I've always recognized the building envelope's significance. However, it's only in recent years, through energy modeling, that I've grasped the profound impact of envelope quality on energy consumption and costs. The data is clear: a well-designed envelope can significantly reduce electricity expenses. It's time we move beyond mere R-values to embrace strategies for energy efficiency and sustainability. Check out this article to understand how we can initiate change. Interested in enhancing your building's performance?
