In the evolving world of construction, effective moisture management is more crucial than ever. With advances in building codes, increased climate variability, and greater expectations for building longevity, construction teams are increasingly focusing on building envelope solutions to protect structures from the damaging effects of water infiltration. One of the most reliable ways to achieve this is through a well-designed rainscreen system. Learn more about rainscreens and how you can use a rainscreen system for your next project in our latest blog.

How can you reduce the environmental impact of your building with Single Ply roofing? Any new building or construction project will have an environmental impact, but there are several steps you can take to mitigate this impact and reduce any potential harm. A single ply roof for example can be a great option for residential, commercial, and industrial properties that are looking for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option. The construction of your single ply roof can help to reduce the environmental impact of the building in a number of ways; you should consider the following during the construction process to ensure this: · Water management · Energy Efficiency · ISO 14001:2015 certification and single ply roofing installations Single ply roofing can be a highly efficient option, and can boost energy efficiency in a number of ways, including: · A high reflectivity · Thermal Insulation · Durability and longevity For more information have a read of our blog in full: https://lnkd.in/e6y5R2BK #singleply #flatroofing #environmental #construction #maincontractor #reduce #efficiency #energy #architects #roofers The Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) Jake Clarke Teruka Taylor Paul Gibney Claire Holden Ben O'Connor

Having been involved with helping create ideal indoor environments in buildings for over 2 decades, I've always recognized the building envelope's significance. However, it's only in recent years, through energy modeling, that I've grasped the profound impact of envelope quality on energy consumption and costs. The data is clear: a well-designed envelope can significantly reduce electricity expenses. It's time we move beyond mere R-values to embrace strategies for energy efficiency and sustainability. Check out this article to understand how we can initiate change. Interested in enhancing your building's performance? Let's connect and explore solutions with our envelope specialists. #EngineeredForImpact #BuildingScience #Sustainability
Building envelopes play a critical role in energy conservation. Salas O'Brien experts Mike Calabrese , Jon Haehnel , Mickey S. Leso, Hesam Shafieyan, Stephen Shanks, and Don Williams share a comprehensive look at what building owners, design, and construction professionals need to know about what has changed, common building envelope issues, and how to protect from oversights. https://lnkd.in/gw_Jzy-M #BuildingEnvelope #EngineeredForImpact

Can you fit a green roof to an existing building? When we think of green and blue roofs, we would be forgiven for thinking that these can only be applied to new buildings, but is there also an opportunity to retrofit? Well, the great news is that there is and despite concerns surrounding weight, whether it is a historic landmark, or a more recent construction, many are finding that the opportunity to bring a little green love to your roof is much easier than originally thought. So, what sort of things do we need to consider prior to retrofitting a green roof? The most obvious is the load bearing capacity of the building and seeking the advice of a structural engineer is essential. Another consideration could be whether a green roof could increase the fire risk on your structure, however, through careful selection of plants and the provision of a fire break this risk can be brought in line with standard roof construction. But what are the opportunities that can be unlocked through retrofitting a green roof? Well, some could include: · Improved roof insulation · Less carbon dioxide released to the environment. · Better storm water management So, if you want to create new habitats for nature, slow the flow and generally make your existing roof space look better why not explore installing a green roof on your next project and unlock some of the amazing benefits it can bring. ADU FAQs #10 Question: WHAT CHANGE ORDERS ARE YOU SEEING? Answer: The more common Change Orders we are seeing involve improving the existing infrastructure such as upgrading the electrical load, replacing the sewer lateral, and/or changing the main water line from ¾" to 1,1/4" in order to increase water pressure. Property owners have also elected to install new decks, fencing, solar panels, landscaping (such as driveways or retaining walls), exterior accents, and/or commercial-grade appliances to name a few. As project managers and builders, we try to avoid change orders by making sound recommendations during the design stage before construction so that our clients are not unpleasantly surprised during construction.
