So important and for MP’s, the solution is close at hand. Turn the excellent and recently debated statutory guidance on commissioning of palliative and end of life care into a mandatory responsibility. That small tweak will be enough to shift the issue onto the must do list and help save and build critical services across the country that we are now at a very real risk of losing. What we don’t need is more post it parties, draft plans for draft strategies, work streams that don’t deliver change, consultation on things we’ve already consulted on, warm words with no action.
With just 3 weeks until polling day, we want all parties to consider end of life care. Whoever ends up in Government must listen to the needs of the hospice sector, and the people who rely on this vital care. Read more in our joint manifesto 👇 https://ow.ly/KPpp50Sb0Rb

🎄 The Gift of Care this Christmas Season 🎄 The holiday season is a time for giving, and across urgent care centers nationwide, we’re reminded that the greatest gift we can give is compassionate care. Urgent care teams often meet patients at their most stressful moments—when holiday illnesses, injuries, or unexpected emergencies threaten to overshadow the season. It’s our calling to ensure that, regardless of the situation, every patient feels valued, respected, and cared for. Here’s how we can embody the spirit of the season: 1. Greet with Warmth – A kind word or a heartfelt smile can make all the difference to someone feeling unwell or overwhelmed. 2. Show Compassion – The holidays can amplify stress and emotions. Patience and understanding go a long way in easing a patient’s journey. 3. Deliver with Heart – Providing excellent care isn’t just about treatments—it’s about making every patient feel seen, heard, and cared for. This Christmas, let’s commit to going above and beyond the clinical. Let’s remind patients that urgent care isn’t just a place to heal—it’s a place of hope and humanity. To all urgent care teams: Thank you for being the backbone of healthcare during the holidays. Your dedication and compassion are the true gifts of this season. Wishing everyone a warm, joyful, and meaningful Christmas. #MerryChristmas #CultureGameChanger #UrgentCareHeroes #PatientCare #HealthcareCompassion

Saturday Statistics: First, We would like to say Happy Thanksgiving to our southern neighbors. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend with family and friends. What are the busiest months in hospitals? Do holidays affect it? Working as an RN, there are always "perks" to working holidays- well staffed, usually great food in the staff room, and USUALLY less patients. This of course, varies from floor to floor. According to recent research, January, March and May are the busiest months for Hospitals. Why is that? Flu season? More accidents? Starting the year off with caring for their health? They aren't able to explain why this is the case. But interesting Statistics for sure!

Public satisfaction of the NHS is down, but the public commitment to its principles of free at the point of need remains strong. https://lnkd.in/ePQuWFyE Is this the key? My article in the Fabian Society review last summer explores what a new social contract for the future of health and care could be.https://https://lnkd.in/efnvcHRn (page 7). If we are to stand a chance of recovering the NHS for the good of a healthy society, then we surely must embrace the power of society to make it so. Whether we are involved in giving or receiving care, it is only through a shared endeavour and a belief in a collective commitment to happpy healthy lives for all that we will steer our way out of this particular creek.
