I often get asked what my favorite thing about Leland is and I answer the same every time: hands down, it's the team. This team is the most hardworking, scrappy, humble, and intelligent group of people I've come across in the state, and it leads to a culture where you can deeply respect and admire each one of your colleagues, learn from them, and push each other to be better. We're "dolphins in shark costumes" -- genuinely kind, good-to-the-core people who will also run through a brick wall if that's what it takes to win... and we're looking for more like us!! We're hiring for both technical and growth/ops roles, with full-time and internship opportunities. If you or someone you know fits this description, comment on this post or send me a note. I'd appreciate it if you'd help me get the word out by sharing it with your networks as well. Come be a part of something that matters with a team that will make it happen. *Warning: Side effects of working at Leland may include ruining your appetite to work anywhere else because nothing will ever be as good. Do proceed with caution.

❓ Any organizations out there feel challenged when it comes to creating and maintaining effective internship programs? When I say effective I mean programs that... ▶ attract students with the qualifications you're looking for ▶ create a pipeline of students for future internships ▶ lead to hires of full-time employees ▶ enhance your employment brand on college campuses ▶ create fulfilling experiences for students and the organization ▶ create employment brand advocates ▶ foster a lasting positive impression of your organization and so on... We're currently working on a project to take our years of expertise around Internships and working with students to create a program that will accomplish the objectives listed above and more. If this is something you're challenged with or would like to learn more, let's talk.

Are you struggling to stand out in job applications in this market? As someone on the inside, let me share some general best practices for a successful job search. First, make sure you meet the required qualifications listed in the job description, including the years of paid, post-graduate professional experience. Unpaid internships and years in school typically do not count towards this requirement. Second, ensure that you currently hold a similar level and responsibilities for the job you are applying for. Applying for a Senior Software Engineer position as an intern won't land you the job. Third, tailor your resume for each role you apply for. Take the extra time to include relevant information that matches the job requirements. Make it easy for the recruiter or hiring manager to choose you by getting the right information on that resume. Fourth, utilize your network. Networking can help you discover new opportunities and potentially provide a referral or opportunity to “pull your resume out of the pile.” Finally, set up job alerts on the company careers sites for the companies you are targeting. This way, you can be the first to know when new jobs open up and be in the first batch of candidates' resumes reviewed for the role. Remember, timing is everything. I hope these tips are helpful! Good luck in your job search! -Janelle

Happy National Intern Day 🚀 It's just been over two years since I started out in Recruitment as an intern and now, I couldn’t imagine where I would be if I didn’t. Internships are an incredible opportunity to gain insights and experience in an industry that you have an interest in but don’t know what a working day would look like. It was terrifying to start an internship without really knowing what a ‘normal day’ looks like but taking that leap into an Internship could be the best thing you could do you your career. If I didn’t make that Leap, I wouldn’t be working at NineTech today so I would 100% recommend it. The great thing about being in recruitment is now having the ability to place candidates like I was two years ago, into a career-changing role. So if you're just starting out in your career or working at a senior level, please reach out as we have job opportunities across the board. We're hiring for an entry-level position. Requirements: PhD preferred. (What’s next, a Nobel Prize for internships?) When did "entry-level" mean "impossible to enter"? When did we decide that potential wasn’t enough? “Must have 5+ years of experience”— for an internship. “Must know every tool under the sun”— for a junior role. Your KPIs aren’t worth their hopes and dreams. Chasing metrics is costing you real talent. → Your metrics < Their time. Full stop. Let’s stop gatekeeping potential. Let’s stop demanding perfection right out the gate. Let's stop treating growth as a luxury. People want to learn. Give them a chance. Let's create a hiring process that works for everyone. Who’s in? P.S. What's the most ridiculous interview experience you've had?
