Learn more about the history of our relationship with Veterans and the military from Ted Ryan, our Chief Archivist at Ford.
As we get closer to Veterans Day, I was thinking about Ford Motor Company’s long-standing relationship with those who served. Since 1903, Ford has prided itself on being a home for those who risked their lives to protect our country. It’s in our DNA to want to give back. I found some interesting items in our Heritage Vault that really speak to this relationship, and how it has shaped our future. I hope you’ll watch, and let me know what you think. To all the Veterans, thank you for your service.

Today, on Veterans Day, I’m reflecting on what it means to serve — not just in uniform, but in life. Service isn’t just a job; it’s a commitment to something bigger than yourself. Man, veterans understand this better than anyone. They’ve experienced the weight of responsibility, the courage it takes to stand in the face of fear, and the discipline to keep moving forward when others would step back. 1 / Service is about sacrifice — giving up comfort, sometimes even safety, for a purpose that others may never see or understand. It’s a choice to put others first, to act with integrity, and to honor commitments, even when no one’s watching. 2 / Today, as we honor those who’ve served, let’s ask ourselves: What do we serve? How often do we look beyond ourselves to a cause or a mission that truly matters? Because the principles that veterans embody—courage, duty, selflessness—aren’t just for the battlefield. They’re for life. 3 / The best way to honor our veterans is to carry those values forward in our own lives, in whatever small ways we can. To all who’ve served, thank you for reminding us what true dedication looks like.

Today, we honor all who served and the families who supported alongside them. Freedom is never free—it demands constant care and commitment. At Beacon, a veteran-founded startup with many veterans on our team, we’re proud to work on the future of flight, with life-saving technology paving the way for even more people to celebrate Veterans Day in the years to come. Thank you to all who serve, have served, and those who support! 🇺🇸 Our next role, which is likely a good fit for a veteran aviator, is in the comments

Vince Zampella since you are now overlooking the new battlefield project i would like to shed some concerns over the project as a consumer who have been a huge fan of the series. To Semi Quote you. you talked about going back to roots and getting rid of the 128 players to go back to the 32 vs 32 players (64 player) route. i feel like you should let the players decide that outcome ........just because the consumer is what buy's your product and promotes your product through word of mouth and notice. one of my major concerns is the battle royal gamemode. From personal experience its a horrible decision the only reason your shareholders/ceo's are pushing this project because they are comparing Fortnite made by Epic games. rather than sticking to the fundamentals of modern warfare/era warfare lore accurate, locations , factions, weapons , and armored warfare. in this new one i would be deeply excited if you revived naval warfare since it has been under appreciated for what it is. I would also like for you to consider having to recreate a map that is a naval base for submarines holding nuclear weaponry or war crime like tier of threat. I would love to see more armor , air , and naval transportation that we haven't seen yet or updated on. just to name a few. AC-130 Spooky , M2A3 bradley busk 2 variant, rhino a.k.a Super hornet and dual crew variants, USS Washington BB-56 battleship. going back and paying homage to these iconic weapons/vehicles would be amazing.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron. Every summer, they come to Seattle, and since I live close to where they perform their acrobatic maneuvers, they often fly directly over my house. When they do, we don’t see the planes so much; we hear and feel them. When 4-5 F/A 18 twin-engine Super Hornets get this close, the ground shakes, the house vibrates, and the windows rattle. The total power of these planes and the pilots’ skill is awe-inspiring. A little-known habit or routine among these pilots is the foundation of their success: a formal debrief after every flight, whether a demonstration or practice. In these meetings, rank is left at the door, and every maneuver is evaluated. No detail is too small. Even the march out to the airplanes is evaluated. While pilot skill is essential, they will say the debrief is the secret to thrilling audiences while flying within the envelope of safety. Recent posts by Colleen Soppelsa and Siobhán (shiv-awn) McHale have pointed out that transformational change requires a systemic approach rather than a technical fix. But what does “systemic” mean? Systems have several attributes that give them structure. Understand the structure, and you will have a path for organizational transformation. One of these structures is routines or organizational habits. One example of these system-defining routines is the habit built into Alco Aluminum by its CEO, the late Paulo O’Neil. To reduce workplace accidents to zero, he required every plant manager to notify him personally when an accident occurred and present a plan to prevent recurrence. This habit had a ripple effect. It became the lens through which every process was evaluated, uniting managers and labor (always an issue) around safety. It meant that every plant had to have a safety strategy. And improving every process for safety resulted in eliminating waste and creating more customer value. Change is always tricky, but mandating it makes it nearly impossible. Try looking hard at organizational routines and habits. Then, pick one that will have a ripple effect throughout the organization.
