Sad news for the Whisk(e)y industry in Ireland. Let's hope there aren't too many other distilleries in trouble. Interpath Advisory has been appointed as receivers for the Waterford Whisky distillery on Grattan Quay after HSBC took control following negotiations about a turnaround plan. The unexpected move has caused shock in Waterford, with concerns for the future of its employees. Mark Reynier, the founder of the distillery, expressed his sorrow and praised his dedicated team for their efforts. The receivers will now seek a new buyer for the business or sell assets to recoup the loaned money. This case highlights the challenging balance between innovative business ideas and financial stability. #WhiskyIndustry #BusinessNews #Waterford Link to article in comments

NBF announces 7.5% membership growth The National Bed Federation (NBF) has grown its membership base by over 7% in 2024, and now has a total of 86 members, including 54 of the UK’s leading bed manufacturers. The growth of the membership against a generally challenging economic backdrop has been welcomed by executive director Tristine Hargreaves. “The addition of these new members, and retention of our existing manufacturer and supplier base, is a very positive foundation for our work in 2025 and underscores the value we have been working to deliver for the membership,” she said. https://lnkd.in/ef_kJRWq #nbf #beds #mattress #manufacturing #Membership #growth Simon Williams

Being a, EC member of FPCCI from the Attock Chamber of Commerce, I fully support the concerns raised by Mirza Abdul Rehman. To address the issues, we must prioritize a merit-based system for appointments, ensure financial transparency, and hold elected representatives accountable. Restoring focus on business growth and export promotion is critical for reviving FPCCI’s role in supporting Pakistan’s economy. These measures will help bring back the integrity and purpose of the organization. #SupportForMirzaAbdulRehman #MeritBasedSystem #RestoreFPCCI #BusinessGrowth #TransparencyInFPCCI #ECMemberAttock #ChamberOfCommerce #PakistanEconomicRevival #benisonmarketingceo #benisongreenfarms #ehteshamzaman #BenisonMarketing #chamberofcommerceandindustry

Since I first got involved with Scotch Whisky, several decades ago, the Scotch Whisky Association, from various premises and through several Chief Executive statements, have ALWAYS been saying this. They manage to carefully and constantly ignore the MASSIVE Elephants in the Room though: * Why don't we have a cohesive Scotch Whisky Tourism Strategy and Budget? * Why can you visit Scotland's biggest Nuclear Power Station but you CAN'T visit Scotland's biggest Distillery? * Why don't we have a dynamic, Scotch Whisky Tourism website, with ALL the Distilleries? If the SWA wants to remain relevant, they need to ACT, not just mouth platitudes and pose for photos, shaking hands with a load of Politicians, who have absolutely no wish to change things. Less 'Honours', more Honour. If you DO have a point of view that's slightly less toothless and benign than the one they hold, they simply don't invite you to stuff! They don't WANT Debate. They'll tell you Scotch is doing great, till its not. Like in the 1980s, when they had already been around for 60 years and watched, as it nearly got consigned to History. It's 2024. SWA has been on the go since 1913, they're supposed to be THE Vanguard for Scotch. It's quite hard to believe, it's a Drink named after our Country. The combined Turnover of their Members is £several Tens of Billions but we don't have a Tourism Strategy. Eh? P.S. Hardly anyone knows the uncomfortable truth. Lord David Frost, (the Brexit Guy), he used to be the Chief Executive of the Scotch Whisky Association... They probably don't want ordinary Scots knowing this, I'm beyond caring! #ScotchWhiskyTruths.
"The figures also show that #ScotchWhisky's success at home and overseas cannot be taken for granted. Support to see the industry through short-term turbulence is necessary to harness the long-term growth opportunities, and that can start with the cut to UK spirits duty in the Budget on 30th October." 💬🥃 Scotch Whisky Association Mark Kent CMG calls on the UK Government to #SupportScotch as 2024 H1 export results are released Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJbPCXsY

Welsh Government withdraws from four nation approach to drinks container deposit return scheme: Disappointingly, the Welsh Government Deputy First Minister, Huw Irranca-Davies has issued a statement indicating that the Welsh Government will be introducing its own deposit return scheme for drinks containers, including for glass. The UK Government has interpreted the move as Wales intending to delay implementation and has recommitted itself to having a scheme up and running in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland by October 2027. The UK Government has announced its intention to bring forward regulations in November to provide for appointment of ‘Deposit Management Organisations’ by April 2025. Business organisations have made their opposition to the Welsh Government move clea

We are thrilled to welcome MGA Independent Businesses Australia to Independent Payments Forum. Together we'll advocate for a fair go in payments for independent grocery and supermarkets, independent timber and hardware, and independent liquor retailers and their customers all over Australia. They join AACS (Australian Association of Convenience Stores), Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association (ACAPMA), Australian Restaurant & Cafe Association and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) at the IPF forum. IPF aims to affect real change in the payments system by listening, working with, and representing the voices who go unheard, including small businesses and their customers. Currently in Australia small businesses and their customers pay a lot more than big businesses in unfair fees for basic debit card payments. Debit cards are used by the vast majority of Aussie consumers to access their own money for everyday shopping. Debit is "the new cash" and fees should be as low as possible.
