Equinix, a global leader in digital infrastructure, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CleanMax to establish a 33 MW Captive Power Plant in Maharashtra. This innovative partnership aims to supply renewable energy to Equinix’s growing data centers in Mumbai, including 26.4 MWp of solar and 6.6 MW of wind capacity, set to become operational in 2025. This strategic investment aligns with Equinix's sustainability vision, ensuring 100% renewable energy for data deployments while addressing the rising demand for AI-ready infrastructure. The move also strengthens CleanMax's portfolio, adding to its impressive 2 GW of renewable assets developed for over 400 global clients. MNRE has increased the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) by 2,094 MW of solar module capacity. The total solar module manufacturing capacity under ALMM now stands at 58,422 MW. New additions to the list include: SAEL Solar with 2,065 MW capacity. Grew Energy with 29 MW capacity. ITI, Jyotitech Solar, SunField Energy, and Suryakamal Energy have been removed from the list. Provisional new entrants include: Ganesh Green Bharat with 131 MW capacity. Unique Sun Power with 43 MW listed capacity and 200 MW applied capacity. Credence Solar Panels with 500 MW listed capacity and 500 MW applied capacity. The ALMM mandate was reimposed on April 1, 2024. Waaree Energies, India's largest solar panel manufacturer, saw its shares drop 6.4% to Rs 3,400.50, despite securing a major order to supply up to 180 MWp of modules to a leading renewable energy company. This comes after a successful IPO that pushed the company’s value beyond Rs 1 lakh crore. Module deliveries are set to begin in late November 2024, with completion expected by Q4 of FY 2025, according to the company’s exchange filing.
