Isn’t it lovely when old employees, phone for a chat/ catch up. Some roles are wrong for some people that doesn’t mean the company was wrong. Connections are made and friendships last. Can’t wait for our next pub date with our old employees (friends).

Friends, employers and employees, we'd love to chat with you! 👂 Would you be willing to have a 20 minute chat with one of our volunteers to talk about your experiences ‘disclosing’ your stammer? Tell us: 👉 Whether you tell others about your stammer or choose not to 👉 What sort of reactions do you get from others? This might be with family, friends, when you’re out shopping, or when you’re at university or the workplace. 👉 Maybe you’ve been on the receiving end of a disclosure when someone told you that they stammer. How was that for you? Whatever the situation, we’d love to hear about your experiences. If you’d be happy to have a one-to-one chat on Zoom, drop a line to employmentsupport@stamma.org and let's arrange a time to chat ⏲

What color is Oscar the Grouch? Green, right? 🤔 Are you sure though? 🤔🤔 Believe it or not, Oscar was originally orange! He’s only green because he’s been in that trash can for so long. Crazy, isn’t it? So, things aren’t necessarily always what they seem. Just like Oscar’s true colour can surprise you, I know that the challenges of running a business can often jump out and bite you on the bum. That’s where I come in. If you are faced with an angry green puppet or need support with staffing for admin or last minute tasks, drop me a line. I'm calm, methodical and I can deal with the unexpected. If you need more convincing, I used to be a 999 operator, so surprises don't come much bigger than that. So go ahead, Google Oscar the Grouch and do let me know if I can help you out with any last minute tasks. https://lnkd.in/gpjdSCQ8 Wendy #PuppetWrangler #AdminQueen #PandaVirtualAssistant #BusinessSupport #VirtualAssistant #Surprise!

Every once in a while, we have a candidate that finds out that the client we’re working with performed a backchannel on them, and they wind up feeling totally betrayed. I get it. It happened without their permission, and it felt like a breach of trust. But the reality is: backchannels are a part of life. Like it or not, they ARE going to happen. If the company you’re interviewing with backchannels you, it doesn’t mean that they’re bad people. It could be a gut check their board members are asking for, and it’s a practice widely encouraged across the industry because there is real value to be found in seeing through the eyes of a trusted connection to understand how someone performed in their last role. In other words, it’s never, ever personal. That said, there is one absolute ground rule that can never be broken: your confidentiality in your current role must be protected. There is no excuse for compromising your current employment situation. None. Beyond that core principle? The lines get blurry. More on that in my next post…

You know, I was just browsing through the Wall Street Journal (as one does on a Monday morning ☕) when I stumbled upon this gem about reconnecting with old bosses and coworkers. It got me thinking—how many of us are sitting on a goldmine of connections we've let gather dust? Now, I'm not saying you should start spamming your entire contact list (please don't!), but there's real value in reaching out to folks you've worked with in the past. And no, I don't mean just when you're desperately hunting for a job! Here are a few nuggets of wisdom from the article: - Timing is everything - catch up when you're NOT in crisis mode. - Get personal - remind them of that project you crushed together. - Give before you get - offer some industry intel or a helping hand. - Keep it short and sweet - we're all drowning in emails, right? - Patience, grasshopper - don't expect instant replies. I am a big believer in the power of relationships for those who know me and those who don't. You never know when a casual "How've you been?" might lead to your next big break or an exciting collaboration. So, who are you going to reach out to this week? An old mentor? That colleague who always had the best lunch ideas? Drop a comment and let me know how it goes! Let's keep building those bridges, folks. After all, our network is our net worth! #NetworkingTips #ProfessionalGrowth #Lockton #DicksonSolutions #Makefriends

Dear User, After all these years together, I’ve decided it’s time to 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲. I know you’ve used me for everything: from watching memes to sending important emails (even if some were just chain letters). But I can’t keep up anymore. 💻 My keys are worn out, my battery doesn’t last long enough to watch a single Netflix movie, and opening a file takes me forever. I know you’ve kept me “just in case,” but we both know that day will never come. My wish is to leave this desk with dignity. I want to be recycled and turned into something useful for someone else… or maybe even a shiny new device that can truly help you. Thank you for the memories (and the endless software updates). With love, Your Retired Laptop - ✨ Remember: recycling is about giving new purpose to what no longer serves you. 💬 What device in your office do you think should submit its resignation letter? Let us know in the comments. #recycling #tech #circulareconomy #goodbyeoldtech

I'm posting this at 11.30am, which I presume is within your working hours. If not, enjoy your right to disconnect and come back later. For the rest, I had a blast presenting last week at McInnes Wilson's Morning Tea Webinar, “Clocking Off: The Right to Disconnect and What It Means in the APS”. My presentation is now available online at LawFlix, which you can join here: https://lnkd.in/g6JmnUWQ. It's targeted to the Australian Public Service, and it's free! That's pretty cheap. What a deal. I thought, given no one else was talking about the Right to Disconnect recently, it might be useful for me to speak about it. Did I tell you I was on Ben Fordham's show chatting about it on the day it come out? Ha. Fun times. Anyway, if you're in the APS and interested what the RTD might mean for you, and how you can ensure your Department or Agency meets its obligations in this scary, disconnected new world, check it out. It features both Bluey, and the Wiggles. If you are not yet a subscriber to Lawflix, and want to stay informed on regular legal updates relevant to the public service, you can register at www.law-flix.com.au. #fairwork #righttodisconnect #APS #Auslaw

In an age dominated by digital calendars, the traditional desktop calendar may no longer be the corporate stationery essential it once was. Yet, we still sent out around 350 this year to clients who specifically requested them. Guess some classics never go out of style! #Print #DirectMail #TimelessTools #ClientConnections
When a client says, “I have this so you’re always right in front of me,” we know our desk calendar is doing more than just tracking dates...it’s holding down the best spot on their desk! Flattered? Absolutely. Always there to support? You bet. Here's to being front and centre for our clients every step of the way (and every day of the year)! Thank you for sharing the photo with us Fanny Abramczuk! It made us smile, which is always a great way to end the week. #DirectMail #MailingHouse #DeskCalendarGoals #AlwaysTopOfMind

Say no. It’s a superpower that preserves your time for what’s most important. Here are 7 tactful ways to do it: 1. "I appreciate you thinking of me. Unfortunately, I don't have the bandwidth right now." 2. "Sounds like a great opportunity. I have to pass on it. I'm overcommitted right now.” 3. “I’ve got my head down right now finishing my [fill in the blank; e.g., book]. Reach back out in [October; e.g., 3+ months], and let’s look at our calendars then.” 4. “I’m up against several big deadlines this month. If there’s still a need next month, reach back out to me.” 5. “With my current commitments and responsibilities, I don’t think I could do this in a way I’d be proud of. I appreciate the opportunity though.” 6. "Let me check my calendar and get back to you." 7. “I can’t do this, but so-and-so might have some capacity. Here’s the email address I’ve got: [person’s email address].” Save this post, and better yet, save these replies in a text expander / shortcut app on your computer and phone. I have used aText for years.
