I have been engaged in CAC filings for over seven years now, and one job it bestowed upon me is the verification officer role. During the KYC stage, the client must provide all requirements before filing. It is my duty to verify if they have provided the right data, such as the right means of id( valid and not expired), house address, email, phone number, passport photograph, etc. As a prospective verification officer, one of the basic skills you can have is paying attention to details. You need to keenly make sure that the data is free from errors before filing into a database system. Another skill is confidentiality. You are dealing with a lot of sensitive information, and so you have to be very careful when handling such documents. You also need to adhere to data privacy policies too. Make sure all physical copies are filed properly and stored as confidential information. Verification goes beyond verification of documents. It requires asking questions based on the information provided to gain clarity. A loan verification officer will always check the credit score of the loan applicant, guarantor, and outstanding loan payments. An account verification officer, will verify the date of birth, name on the bvn, house address on the utility bill or conduct a search in the case of corporate account opening to verify every detail that was provided by the account opening customer. Verification helps to checkmate data errors, prevent anti-money laundering schemes, and also breach of data safety. A remote verification officer can work as an online moderator to verify if the questions align with the group rules. A remote verification officer can help to verify payments for online classes, virtual conferences, and also correct or update data. They also verify if the applicants filed proper details by checking the data that was filed and the documents that were uploaded to support the data that was provided.
