We have built many misconceptions about the word celebration. The celebration doesn’t always mean a large party or an outing. Small get-togethers, cutting a cake, and acknowledging team members’ efforts in front of the team all count as a celebration. What matters is how frequently we are doing it and making it a part of our culture. Introducing moments of lightness, humor and celebration can significantly increase work efficiency. To keep the attraction towards the work, some distraction is essential. And one of the best ways to break the monotony is by celebrating often. This post isn’t about just #hiring but about the thought behind my designation. A few months ago, I had the unexpected opportunity to meet the Founder Geet Kumar at Twitchy Thought Creations (a story for another time!). Our conversation covered everything from business and marketing to social media and startups. It was clear that our visions aligned, and we decided to work together. Oh, and we’re both passionate bike riders! When I was offered the role, the next challenge was finding a designation that truly reflected my responsibilities. I wasn’t too concerned about the title, but she wanted it to be meaningful. That’s when my role was created: Assistant - Business Growth & Marketing. Here's what it represents: Assistant (Soul): With the experience and inspiration she brings, I assist her and constantly learn something new every day. Business Growth (Brain): To focus on long-term vision and strategic growth for the company. Marketing (Heart): My true passion, driving creativity and connection in everything I do. What I’ve come to realize is that (the boss is always right) she was right from the start. This title isn’t just a role—it’s a tag that fuels my motivation. There are a lot of temptations in corporate america. Cutting corners because "No one will know" Slandering others to advance one's career because if the other person is bad, you must be better. Right? Misrepresenting data to fit one's own agenda. And so on. There are many clowns who play these games. And if you do as well, you will end up in the sewer with them. Suffice it to say, it never ends well. So if you find these scary clowns on your team, as a leader you need to get rid of them. Otherwise, you will eventually find yourself with a team full of scary clowns because all the good talent will leave.
