4º maintenance planning principle for Success in planning & scheduling. Use planner judgment for time estimates: Planners should use their experience and skills in addition to file information to determine time estimates for work orders. Time estimates should be reasonable with what a technician might require to complete a job without any issues. This means planners should have technical, communication and organizational data skills to make a reasonable estimate. This principle requires planners to be chosen from the organization's best technicians, possibly ones with the most seniority. For example, someone with 15 years of technician experience who accepted a planner position might notice in a previous work order file that a pump alignment took eight hours. He knows from experience that, when done by a competent mechanic, this task should only take around five hours, so he uses the five-hour estimate when creating the job plan for this task.

Maintenance Projects and Me: A Journey of Growth and Excellence Maintenance projects are more than just keeping systems running—they’re about ensuring reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, I’ve discovered that these projects are the perfect combination of technical problem-solving, proactive planning, and hands-on execution. Every project I’ve been a part of has been an opportunity to learn, adapt, and innovate. From reducing equipment downtime by 60% through predictive maintenance strategies to solving complex issues like Schneider Sepam Relay troubleshooting, I’ve honed my ability to tackle challenges with precision and speed. What Maintenance Means to Me: Optimizing Systems: Implementing strategies that extend asset longevity while reducing operational costs. Collaborating Across Teams: Working with contractors, technical staff, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution. Driving Results: Combining technical expertise with a focus on quality to enhance productivity and ensure operational excellence. Maintenance is not just about fixing what’s broken—it’s about building systems that work better, smarter, and longer. It’s a journey of continuous improvement and a role that drives value in every project I undertake. Here’s to making every maintenance project a success story! #maintenanceengineering #electricalengineering #continuousimprovement #operationalexcellence #problemsolving

I worked 6 years of my initial career executing maintenance and project jobs. Then shifted to a technical consulting role. In both, when i faced certain issues (either technical or manpower management) i followed it up with my managers and level above. Managers gave inputs but super seniors asked more questions ! The quest to find correct answers remained. For a gas turbine trip incident in my earlier company, I went inside the rabbit hole of manuals, codes, policies, regulations, research to solve it all. Now when people are approaching me for "trivial" technical issues, it is evident that either they have not read or wanted short cuts. These examples makes me realise that - you can only solve your own problems and not of others (sure, you can empathize with them) Say if you have a boss who doesnt care about correct answers and wants to get done away with the problem quickly, i cant help you. You have to teach yourself or guide others to seek answers themselves (by asking correct questions). As Jed McKenna says - when the student is ready the teacher appears. Katha Upanishad summed it up well - Know the Self as the rider in a chariot, and the body as simply the chariot. Know the intellect as the charioteer, and the mind as the reins. The five senses, are the horses, and sense paths around them. "When the Self [Ātman] understands this and is unified, integrated with body, senses and mind, is virtuous, mindful and pure, he reaches bliss, freedom and liberation".

Total Industrial & Process Solutions With the mastermind.(at very right) and his assistant (near me) and Project engineer Madhawa Weerawardhana ❤️ Excelling in Shutdown Jobs: Two Fundamental Rules 1. Do it correctly. 2. Do it time - boundly. In the realm of shutdown jobs, success hinges on two essential principles: correctness and timeliness. Do it correctly: Ensuring every task is executed with precision is paramount. From safety protocols to technical procedures, correctness not only guarantees the job is done right the first time but also safeguards against potential risks. Do it time-boundly: Time is of the essence in shutdown jobs. Adhering to a predetermined schedule ensures minimal disruption to operations and maximizes efficiency. Meeting deadlines is not just about completing tasks on time but also about maintaining the momentum of the entire project.
