Engineering takes innovative, analytical and problem-solving capabilities. To do this work, you’ve got to be determined, yet flexible; detail-oriented, yet big-pictured; and above all, wicked smart. That is why we’re celebrating the women behind this historically male-dominated career path – the ones showing there’s room for everyone at the table to roll up their sleeves, sharpen their pencils and help make our built environment a reality. For International Women in Engineering Day, Sunday, June 23, we celebrate them, us and all who will be; because ‘engineer’ translates to ‘doer’ – and we’ve got the ladies to prove that. #DCIEngineers #INWED25 #Engineering #DCIisMe #StructuralEngineering #StructuralEngineers #WomenInEngineering

👩🔧 We're really proud to work with businesses that employ amazing women engineers across all disciplines – from civil and structural to renewables. As we approach International Women in Engineering Day on Sunday the 23rd of June, we want to share a few stats that highlight why this day is so important. According to EngineeringUK's Women in Engineering report, "In 2010, just over 1 in 10 (10.5%) of those working in engineering roles were women. By 2021, this had risen to 16.5%". However, "In 2021, just 15.2% of those working in ‘core’ engineering roles were women, compared with 19.0% of those working in ‘related engineering’ roles". So, it's clear that the industry is heading in the right direction but that there's still work to be done. #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #WomenInEngineeringDay

Shining a Light on Women in Electrical Engineering 💡 On this International Women’s Day, let’s take a moment to celebrate the often overlooked contributions of women in the male-dominated field of electrical engineering. From powering our homes to enabling new technologies, this field touches so many aspects of modern life. However, statistics show that women make up just 1 in 4 electrical engineers. Despite the challenges, women engineers continue to develop innovations that can truly make a difference. Whether using AI to expand renewable energy access or driving solutions for climate change, their work is invaluable. Let’s celebrate remarkable women in this field! #FBF photo of my days at LightWave Solar helping make change in the #renewableenergy sector. #IWD24

For International Women in Engineering Day, we asked Johanie Botha, Project Engineer at EPEC Group what the most fulfilling thing about her work as an engineer is. June 23rd marked the 11th International Women in Engineering Day #INWED. Did you know, that women make up only 13% of the engineering workforce in Australia, according to the "Women in Engineering Report, June 2022" by Engineers Australia? Increasing the percentage of women in engineering teams brings diverse perspectives, creativity, and innovation — all crucial to driving progress and solving complex challenges. We're striving to ensure engineering careers are an attractive choice for all and recognise this as crucial to achieving sustainable progress towards net zero. 💪🌏 #INWED2024 #WomenInEngineering #STEMCareers

2024 - 30 by 30: Turning Knowledge into Action for Gender Equity in Engineering. I am excited to be attending this conference in-person next week put on by Engineers Canada. https://lnkd.in/gEBC9aHP Engineers Canada is working to increase the representation of women within engineering through its 30 by 30 initiative. This initiative, first conceived by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in 2010, was adopted by Engineers Canada as the national goal of raising the percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 per cent by the year 2030. Thirty per cent is universally held as the tipping point for sustainable change—reaching 30 by 30 will help drive the shift in the overall membership of the engineering profession as more and more women continue to enter the profession.
