Today is World Soil Day! 🌱🌍 Healthy soils are essential for life, providing the foundation for sustainable agriculture. This year's theme, “𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐬: 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞”, emphasizes the importance of accurate soil data and information. At Biobest, we recognize the vital role soil characteristics play in thriving ecosystems. A great example of this is our program to monitor the colonization of 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢, a beneficial soil fungus and the active ingredient in our product Asperello®. By analyzing root and soil samples from growers, we check how well 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢 establishes itself in substrates and soils using selective agar plates. 🌿 Want to work together to create healthier soils and a more sustainable future? Today, we join the global community in celebrating World Soil Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the vital role of soil in sustaining life on Earth. Soil is more than just the ground under our feet it is the foundation of ecosystems, agriculture, and human well-being. It supports food production; stores carbon to mitigate climate change and provides a home for countless organisms. Fertilizers are crucial in maintaining soil fertility and ensuring sustainable food production. As the backbone of agricultural productivity, they replenish essential nutrients that crops deplete, helping us feed a growing global population. #AFA #WorldSoilDay #SoilHealth #SustainableAgriculture #Fertilizers

#Mighty Microbes Microorganisms play a pivotal role in sustainable agriculture, acting as essential agents for maintaining soil health and boosting crop productivity. These microscopic entities facilitate vital processes like nutrient cycling, breaking down organic matter to release key nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium which are essential for plant growth. They also enhance soil structure, which improves water retention and aeration, increasing crop resilience against environmental stresses. Beyond improving crop health, soil microbes contribute to sustainable farming practices by naturally suppressing plant pathogens, thereby reducing the reliance on chemical pesticides. Additionally, their role in carbon sequestration and reducing greenhouse gas emissions positions them as critical allies in the fight against climate change. Emphasizing and investing in microbial ecology is essential for advancing sustainable agricultural practices that are both effective and environmentally friendly. #Agriculture #Sustainability #MicrobialEcology #SoilHealth #ClimateAction #FutureFarming

One of the principles of regenerative agriculture is not using chemical pesticides Instead, farmers establish biodiversity that in turn attracts natural predators to control pests. In addition, this helps to regenerate the soil, keeping it healthy and able to requester more CO2 Crabs in rice fields could be another good example as they remove weeds and provide valuable nutrients to the rice paddies. It also improves yields for farmers and provides much needed protein for the local population. Food production is currently the largest cause for global biodiversity loss and regenerative agriculture may well be the answer Thoughts? #regeneration #circulareconomy #foodproduction
