🌱 Planting Hope, Growing Community At Springs of Life Foundation, our mission has always been to meet the needs of those in our community. Today, we need your support to take a vital next step: establishing a community farm. 🌾🚜 Why a Farm? This farm will serve as a lifeline for our community, providing SAFE andAFFORDABLE food such as fresh produce and poultry. 🥕🍗 It will also create much-needed job opportunities and, in the future, additional community employment, such as a meat processing facility, shipping, and more! By focusing on sustainable farming, we can ensure food security for: • Individuals and families in need. 🏡 • Our community as a whole. 🤝 • Residents in our recovery program. 💪 • Solid Grounds coffee shop, which ministers to local youth and young adults. ☕️ A Vision Beyond Food This is more than just a farm—it’s a way to build a stronger, self-sustaining community. With your help, we can: • Secure property that will qualify us for grants to expand our recovery programs. 📈 • Relocate our recovery housing to the farm, providing residents with an environment that fosters growth and healing. 🌿 • Repurpose our current recovery housing into a space that can serve even more needs, including community initiatives. 🏠 How You Can Help To make this vision a reality, we need you! Every dollar moves us closer to the vision. Your support today will help us create sustainable farming that benefits the entire community—starting with those who need it most. If someone is out there who could make this a reality for us and the community, please contact us. 🤝 Any donations given towards this project should be titled “The Farm” as these particular donations will be restricted funding only for the purpose of purchasing property for this vision. 💰 Together, we can rescue, restore, and rebuild. Let’s plant hope and grow a future. 🌱🌍 Donate today to Springs of Life Foundation. 💖

TEAM KENYA CHARITY -BIG GIVE Dear All, This is my rallying call to ask you to please get behind our Big Give Campaign which started today and closes on midday on 25th April. Every donation is doubled by Big Give. We have a target of £10,000. I will work tirelessly to reach this and to help I would love you to support the campaign and spread the word please. Any donations from you or peers would be fantastic along with spreading the word on social media, amongst friends family and work colleagues Our Campaign Big Give Green: 18-25th April. One Donation - Double the Difference. Provide Jiko Stoves for Sustainable Cooking. Why Jiko Stoves? In Ndhiwa Kenya, 84% of households rely on firewood alone for cooking. This is bad for the environment, pollutes the air and damages health. Ndhiwa is extremely poor and electricity is not an option. What will your donation do? Fund education and training for women on the environmental, health and economic benefits of using Jiko stoves. Enable women to promote and sell Jiko stoves and produce and sell sustainable charcoal. Reduce loss of tree cover by cutting CO2 gases, improving health in the community and addressing climate change. What will be the impact if we hit our target? Over a 2 year period 2500 people will benefit directly and up to 25000 people in Ndhiwa will be indirectly benefitted. Chest and visual illnesses will be markedly reduced and the community will understand first-hand the benefits of sustainable technologies. One donation, twice the impact. Stay with me for 44 seconds 2017: Attend first national conference ANC in Atlanta Closing Keynote: Alex Sheen of because I said I would. Message and mission impact me more than any other 60-minute talk has. 🌱 seed planted 2017-2021 Attempting to add as much value as humanly possible. Make promises, keep promises, and help others find theirs. 🌱planting seeds 2021: Launch full-time speaking business 🌱planting seeds and enjoy some fruit 2023: Identify life vision and mission is New Leaf Farm Think about what Alex does and how his charity impacts thousands. But his speaking is just that - charity. He works for the charity, he works for the mission. He was the third (not 1st or only) employees hired. It’s unlike any other speaker I know. He’s always people focused first. Tell myself “I need to reach out to Alex and ask questions.” I love how he does. Yes, I love WHAT but it’s the HOW and WHY that are most impressive. Lies I tell myself - he’s too busy and won’t have time to respond. Do nothing 🌱plant nothing, get nothing 2024 Less than 7 days ago he posts “hey, if you’d like to meet me for dinner, I’m inviting 15 people. Send email.” Done Less than 7 days later, I’m walking to meet Alex Sheen and ask my questions in person with some really amazing people over dinner at Kitchen Social. People with a common thread and even stories from people like Theresa. Theresa sews pillow cases to give children at camp. Nearly 500 hand sewn pillow cases donated. And Alex provided a great opportunity to sit, break bread, and talk about how to serve and help others. Thank you for the invite and thank you for giving more than expected. It’s crazy to think less than 7 years later from my first conference hearing him talk to walking the streets of Beechwood, Ohio with Alex Sheen talking shop. A night and story I won’t soon forget. Unplanted seeds never grow but success seeds do. You modeled curiosity, commitment, and patience. Thank you! 🌱Harvest day and received new seeds More BIG NEWS coming Saturday, May 18 regarding New Leaf Farm. More pics in comments below.

Advertise with us FishingTheMind ! 🎣🧠 We have so many people reaching out to us wanting to advertise on our social media platforms, so after careful consideration the team and I have decided to go ahead and allow SOME advertising (within reason) on our FishingTheMind social media platforms. IT MUST BENEFIT FISHINGTHEMIND SERVICE USERS ! We want to limit advertising so we don’t become a spam account across our platforms. FishingTheMind will only advertise specific content once discussed with the team. For instance , Bait companies could donate to the upcoming group socials we organise. In return a mention on our social media platforms about your bait company and the product donated. Equipment/ tackle companies could donate equipment or terminal tackle to our upcoming social events which we organise. In return a mention on our social media platforms about your equipment/ tackle company donated. Fisheries across the country could donate pegs or discounted pegs for FishingTheMind members. Again , in return we mention about your fishery. Donate funds ?, If you would like to donate funds to help organise social events in which people can attend for free then please contact myself. Our aim is to provide free support for those struggling. Everything is a cost as you all know so funding will be used to pay for such things as pegs, bait and equipment etc etc. I really hope everyone understands. I think this way is a win win for everyone. FishingTheMind is a “not for profit” community interest company. Any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks Mark

Our role as people behind the Taru Movement is that of ‘enablers’. Enablers are people who bridge a gap and make things one step simpler. What does this mean? You as an individual wish to plant trees beyond just donating, but may be unfamiliar with the process involved, or do not have the resources to organise it by yourself. Through the Taru Movement, we can help you plant any number of trees you wish at our annual plantation drives. We can also help you connect with our NGO partners and host a plantation drive in your locale! Want to get involved in the Taru Movement? --- Nip Collection Fundraiser: Help Us Reach 20,000! Sponsored by Reformed Offenders Creating Change, we are excited to announce our Nip Collection Fundraiser starting on November 1st, 2024, and running through March 31st, 2025. Our goal is to collect 20,000 nips (miniature liquor bottles) and 20,000 bottles or cans to raise awareness about littering and its environmental impact, while also supporting vital community services. Why We're Doing This: Discarded nips and bottles are a growing environmental issue, often littering streets, parks, and waterways, harming wildlife and the beauty of our community. With your help, we aim to not only reduce this waste but also make a powerful statement about responsible consumption and environmental stewardship. How You Can Help: We need your support to reach our goal! Here's how you can contribute: Drop Off Locations: You can drop off your nips, bottles, or cans at designated collection points around the community. Spread the Word: Share this fundraiser with friends, family, and on social media to help us reach a wider audience. Business Involvement: Local businesses are invited to join as collection points or to donate unused stock. Where the Funds Go: Once the bottles and cans are collected and recycled, proceeds will go directly to supporting Reformed Offenders Creating Change and our ongoing work in the community. Your contributions will help us continue offering crucial services, from community clean-up initiatives to rehabilitation programs for reformed offenders, making a lasting difference in the lives of many. Goal: Collect 20,000 nips and 20,000 bottles/cans by March 31st, 2025. Funds raised will continue to provide services that foster positive change within our community. Join Us in Making a Difference: By participating in this initiative, you’ll not only help reduce litter but also support valuable programs that uplift and rehabilitate individuals in our community. Every nip, bottle, or can counts! For more information Together, we can create change! --- Let me know if you’d like any more adjustments!

Genuine question I'm hoping someone in my network can help with... if many of us are in agreement that degrowth is the ONLY solution for us when it comes to reducing climate change impacts, ecological collapse, inequality in society and so on - then why are there no big charities or organisations that are trying to spread the word about Degrowth specifically? I get that it might be seen as a long term looming threat by many (which hopefully we're realising isn't the case) - and I'm obviously not devaluing the work done by our current charities - but surely the result of a degrowth system will have valuable knock on impacts across the board? For example: - Environmental charities aim to help protect and restore our environment ✅ - Health charities aim to support and look after the health of a society ✅ - World hunger/poverty charities aim to help with inequality ✅ And yet a Degrowth movement would positively benefit all of these charities - in effect there would be a positive domino effect by integrating frameworks like Doughnut economics into our lives 🍩 It's worth stating that degrowth doesn't mean communism (which is the narrative of the right-wing) - it is a "means of reducing our levels of production and consumption within an economy in order to conserve natural resources and minimise environmental damage". If we consider degrowth as our only viable solution, why aren't there charities out there trying to raise awareness and spread the word? Surely we're at the stage where we actively need this? 🙁 What if our established charities could form some kind of coalition whereby they collectively support such a movement - because ultimately they're working towards the same end goals. Degrowth would provide a vehicle to help these charities reach their own destinations. Am I being too simplistic here - what am I missing? #degrowth #charity #climatechange #charities

Has your business ever considered planting trees as a way to give back to the community? It seems like a nice way to fulfil #CSR doesn't it? Before you break earth please🛑STOP!🛑🌲 Consider if you're planting the right tree in the right place. Planting trees can be a very effective way to help the environment, but sadly many people plant trees where it's not appropriate, or they forget about aftercare so shortly after planting they perish. So don't waste your company's well meaning charity this #NationalTreeWeek. Check out our webpage with everything you need to know about getting tree planting right in our local area. We have free guides on where and what to plant, a list of trees native to Staffordshire, and step-by-step instructions of best practice for tree planting. Have you ever found yourself in a moment when an event, program, or community filled a critical gap in your life, providing support during challenging times or perhaps a space to celebrate successes? At least one of those events, programs or communities was likely led by a non-profit. You may be a mid-career professional wanting to mentor youth in your community --> Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. You may be an environmentalist in dire need of a community that shares your commitment to global conservation efforts --> World Wildlife Fund. For many women-identifying technologists, the non-profit(s) that once filled a critical gap in their lives, just like the examples above, are at risk. Few speak about this, yet it is silently unfolding in the background. Women Who Code, a beacon for over 360,000 individuals across 145 countries, recently announced its closure. It cited funding challenges (a reality amplified by external factors targetting organizations like theirs) as threats to its existence. If you've benefitted from or continue to benefit from a non-profit's work, attend its conferences, become a member, actively support its initiatives, or engage with its content. Without this, they may cease to exist. I firmly believe many non-profits are entering, if they haven't already entered, the "community-led" era rather than the "donor" or "sponsor" led era.
