Via Oil Change International (@priceofoil): To prevent the worst impacts of the climate crisis, we need to move towards a just clean energy future – not build more mega-polluting fossil fuel projects like GulfLink. Tell Buttigieg! https://lnkd.in/ggmTb9FK or link in bio #climate

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and is the second-largest contributor to climate warming after carbon dioxide. Methane comes from both natural sources and human activities: an estimated 60% of today’s methane emissions are the result of human activities. Take a look at this list of sources, some of which might be surprising! #Emissions #ClimateChange #GreenhouseGases

Methane is a significant contributor to climate change. It warms the atmosphere 84 times as much as carbon dioxide within a 20-year time scale. Yet, Canada does not have strong regulations on air quality when compared to other countries like the United States and Australia. While the article calls for more action and responsibility on a federal level, communities can also play a role in reducing methane emissions. Soils matter tons—billions of tons A key climate solution lies under our feet—in soils. Soils naturally remove carbon dioxide from the air and store that carbon underground. By keeping carbon out of the atmosphere, soils play a major role in balancing the global carbon budget and slowing the rate of warming. #fraservalleyrenewables #soilhealth #carbon

The Climate Crisis is a Health Crisis I agree with the WHO’s statement that the climate crisis is fundamentally a health crisis. Pollution, profits, and public health are deeply intertwined, and it’s time we recognize that climate inaction is harming the most vulnerable among us. In New Mexico, one of the leading emitters of greenhouse gases, we see firsthand how captured legislature, commissions and underfunded state agencies poorly written and enforced regulations exacerbate the problem. Despite our state's wealth in oil and gas revenues, New Mexico ranks 47th in healthcare, with many frontline communities suffering from the trauma of contaminated water, polluted air, and unsafe working conditions. For a deeper dive into these issues, here is one of my articles on New Mexico’s pollution crisis and its impacts on public health. The intersection of corporate profit and environmental injustice must be confronted if we are to protect public health and move toward a sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/gaRvbJ4g
