Climate 200’s Post

ICYMI: The Government and Coalition are on the cusp of passing legislation that will give the major parties tens of millions of dollars more in funding- from the taxpayer. As journalists like Annabel Crabb have pointed out, this provides an enormous and unfair benefit to the major parties, potentially entrenching their hold on power over Independents and newcomers. More to come. 🎥 Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC)

I am very keen also to see what amendments would make it fairer..we all know how things can change when big money enters and manipulates playing field....eg No Vote Referendum all they have to do is broadcast lies to the unsuspecting and they are on their way to holding power...it may be annoying for any govt to have to negotiate with others but when managed respectfully it can only provide the best outcome. who is afraid of who? I know who I am afraid of and it ain't Independents who have been endorsed by a wide community

Really keen to see what Amendments the climate 200, and other independents think could make this more fair to new entrants and independents! This is a valuable conversation to have around how to balance the brand advantage Labor and the Coalition have. It is also important to ensure Billionaires don't get to just buy seats with ever increasing funding. Where is the fair compromise where new entrants and independents get a fair go? What would that look like? Please don't dismiss this debate, our democracy needs more options for some ways forward.

Doesn't the USA show us that Two party Politics is bad and we need more choices, not less.
