The Ottawa Board of Trade joins Mayor Mark Sutcliffe in calling on the federal and provincial governments to ensure fair funding for #Ottawa. As the second largest city in Ontario and Canada's Capital, the city of Ottawa is unique in its need for support and opportunities for growth. It is imperative we have an equitable funding model that drives innovative infrastructure, economic growth, and community prosperity for all. A connected city is a sustainable and thriving city. The call for capital and operational funding for transit from all levels of government as well as increased federal support as a primary property owner in the national capital region is aligned with the recommendations outlined in the downtown Ottawa action agenda which was recently released by OBOT and key economic partners including the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Tourism, Invest Ottawa, BOMA Ottawa and the National Capital Commission - Commission de la capitale nationale. A Living Capital, created by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), clearly states the importance of downtown Ottawa to our region, our province and and our country. The highest level of alignment, collaboration and investment among our governments is critical. And time is of the essence. Ottawa taxpayers simply cannot afford the disproportionate costs of maintaining and growing Ottawa. And Ontarians and Canadians cannot afford to let the nation's capital decline. It's time for the federal and provincial governments to recognize the scope of the crisis in our city. And to recognize that we didn’t create this mess. It's time for Ottawa to get our fair share. Please sign my petition and add your voice to the fight for fairness: https://lnkd.in/es_fdRXJ
