Trans Americans already face countless barriers to accessing live-saving treatment. Many, if not most of us, can experience delays that last years in some instances. Most insurers, employers and even certain doctors impose stringent, vague and ignorant requirements before granting access to minimal care. Even then, incremental changes require further vetting to confirm you didn’t change your mind. These are not choice anyone should be making for us, especially not politicians. This election will have a profound effect on Trans Americans irrespective of the outcome. It’s a poignant example of the need to think of mitigating harm in a way that many failed to recognize in 2016. The choices may not be ideal for some, but abstaning is an inherent use of privilege in such a way that ignores trans and other at risk individuals. Vote in solidarity with those who can’t risk for this to go the wrong way.

Our visibility is our strength. Today, on May 17th, we come together to observe the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOTB). This day is not just a moment of solidarity but a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for dignity, equality, and acceptance faced by the LGBT+ community worldwide. 🌈 The significance of visibility and our shared humanity cannot be overstated. In many places around the globe, individuals are still persecuted, discriminated against, and even subjected to violence simply for who they are or whom they love. Our workplace is an environment where everyone must feel that they belong. Everyone is at home here, and our strength flows precisely from our authenticity and diversity. Some time ago, I had the pleasure of designing new gadgets for EY. I really like this project, and even more so the purpose it carries — our visibility.
