🌍 Who here loves Africa as much as much as I do? 🙋🏾♀️ Hello, everyone! I’m Olatunji, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for Africa through my first article! 🌟 This piece is not just about our continent's immense potential; it’s also about my personal journey, a starting point for deeper discussions about Africa. It explores how each of us can make an impact and contribute to understanding our diverse cultures and histories. I often find myself pondering questions that spark curiosity in my conversations with fellow African friends and non-African friends – questions like: ·     Why is Freetown called Freetown? ·     Why do so many Africans find it challenging to explore neighbouring countries and connect with their communities? ·     What are the barriers to migration within Africa, and why are many of our youth seeking opportunities abroad instead of within their own countries? These questions might not seem life-changing, but they reflect our curiosity about our own identities and histories. African history and knowledge have so much to offer, yet we often need to shine more light on it. I want to take these discussions out of my living room and my small circle of friends and put them on a platform where we can spark interest, understanding, and collaboration. If you’re passionate about Africa’s development and leadership or simply want to learn more, this article is for you – and many more to come! Last week, quite a significant number of us were at the 3i Africa Summit and I'm sure most of us were all gingered up and motivated to put in the work into everything we were doing. It's being a couple of days after the event and I'm here to ask you, how far? How far with the ideas you picked up from there? How far with the lessons you picked up? How far with the new connections created? And these questions aren't only for individuals but also the institutions and heads who represented to dialogue and find solutions to Africa's problems? How far? Are we still on course or the motivation has died down? Have you contacted that person you networked with and promised to get in touch to develop that idea? You see the idea of attending events, meeting new people and gaining new perspectives is beautiful. However, real value lies in what we do afterwards. It takes discipline and commitment to translate the above listed into actionable steps. Without actions, attending events may just be another enjoyable experience without impact. So, seize the moment and maximize. Good Morning and See you on the winning side.

As the Founder and Principal for Soulutions Work, my decision to join the WorldChicago Board is deeply rooted in a shared commitment to global collaboration, sustainable development, and cross-cultural understanding. The United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) call for innovative solutions to address the most pressing challenges of our time—economic inequalities, climate change, and social justice, among others. These goals resonate strongly with WorldChicago’s mission to foster international diplomacy and citizen exchange programs that build bridges across cultures and continents. By aligning the spirit of WorldChicago with the SDGs, I see a powerful opportunity to influence change on both local and global levels. WorldChicago’s vision to engage Chicagoans and international visitors in conversations that enhance mutual understanding mirrors the SDG framework's emphasis on partnerships and sustainable impact. Through meaningful exchange programs, we contribute to a more inclusive and peaceful world, fostering the kind of global citizenship necessary for sustainable development. I am honored to serve on this board, where I can apply my expertise in change management, leadership, and organizational development to help advance the organization's efforts in creating a future that is equitable, inclusive, and globally connected.
