The North East Link has reached a critical project stage with the recent launch of the two tunnel boring machines. They'll connect Melbourne M80 Ring Rd. to the Eastern Freeway. Tunnelling will run through 2026 ahead of a project expected completion in 2028. The 6.5 kilometre tunnels from what Sonia Tubulin are set to take 15,000 trucks off local roads each day and slash travel times by up to 35 minutes.
