Hello network! I’m excited to share a transformative experience I had through the AmplifyME Finance Accelerator Simulation. This immersive program offered me an opportunity to step into the roles of Sales & Trading (with Morgan Stanley) and Asset Management (with UBS), giving me a real taste of the fast-paced, dynamic world of finance. Taking on Sales & Trading with Morgan Stanley was exhilarating. From setting bid-offer spreads and managing client relationships to hedging risks and maximising PnL, I learned how to make real-time decisions under pressure while staying strategic. What really struck me was how much communication matters. Whether it was responding to client requests or negotiating trades, I learned that clarity and speed are everything in this field. Building trust with clients, even in a simulated environment, felt incredibly real—and rewarding. I also explored Asset Management with UBS, managing a $20 million portfolio. Allocating capital across sectors while balancing risk gave me a deeper appreciation for the synergy between asset managers and traders, and the complexities of the financial ecosystem. This experience, alongside my journey at Durham University and involvement with the Durham University Finance Society has challenged me in ways I hadn’t anticipated. It wasn’t just about applying financial concepts—it was about learning to thrive under pressure, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of every decision. 🚀 Reflection on AmplifyME x UBS Banking Academy Experience 🚀 Hi network, Yesterday, I was honored to be recognized as one of the outstanding performer in AmplifyME’s M&A Finance Accelerator and attend their flagship Banking Academy. 🎓 I gained hands-on experience in the Equity Capital Markets division, playing the role of a bookrunner. I created roadshows and was involved in book building! A big thank you to Stephen Barnett for coordinating the event and Silvia Magni for assisting us all the way. Both of your sharing me and questions raised were invaluable! 😍 1️⃣ One of my biggest takeaways was preparing the pitch deck. I focused on financial valuation, using skills from the J.P. Morgan Excel simulation. I created dashboards, charts, and diagrams to visualize key data. 📑📉 2️⃣ I also improved my ability to read through notes and extracts efficiently. Despite English not being my native language, I managed to summarize materials quickly and effectively. 📚 3️⃣ Another major takeaway was enhancing my presentation skills. As an introvert, I felt brave speaking up, answering questions, and communicating with my teammates. 🗣️ 4️⃣ I particularly loved my team's coordination. My group mates were collaborative and supportive, effectively allocating roles to complete each slide. We ended up ranking 🥈on the leaderboard! It's great that our team stayed connected through WhatsApp and LinkedIn after the event. I can't express how much I enjoyed working with my team! 😗 This 4-hour session was fun & eye-opening! Looking ahead, I’m excited to apply these experiences and skills in my aspiring career in investment banking. I would like to thank AmplifyME for an opportunity to try myself out in investment banking through a 2-hour simulation. During the simulation, we had to manage assets of global companies like Google or Coca-Cola and outperform the market. By alternating between an asset manager (buy-side) position and an investment banker (sell-side) position we could observe where our individual strengths and interests lie. The experience helped me better understand what a position in an investment banking world looks like and what skills it requires. It provided a better understanding of how client relationships are managed, how trades are facilitated, and what impact news and announcements of company strategies have on stock prices. The simulation also improved my analytical skills, and quick decision-making, and helped me prepare for working in a fast-paced environment. I look forward to applying the skills I've gained in my future career!

Thrilled to announce the completion of the AmplifyME Summer Analyst Program and the attainment of a Level 6 Diploma in Applied Finance accredited by London Banking Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) with distinction! This transformative 3-week program, in partnership with UBS and Morgan Stanley, provided unparalleled hands-on experience and a deep dive into the world of finance. Week 1: Asset Management - Managed a portfolio of $20m with the use of long-only and Long/Short strategies for equities, fixed income, and commodities. - Learned about technical analysis and fundamental analysis and how to use tools such as moving averages and support, resistance and trendlines to make trading decisions. - Utilised the CME Group Platform to trade live during FED announcements and analyze S&P 500 equities, Energy, Metals, FX,and Interest Rates. Employed advanced technical analysis to optimize a £100K portfolio, considering market limits under the guidance of Emre Ekim - Participated in a Universal Banking Simulation with Stephen Barnett supporting a start-up through to an IPO. - Gained insights into trading psychology with Will de Lucy Week 2: Sales & Trading and Market Making - Prioritised risk management while engaging in sales and trading activities on the Amplify simulation platform - Managed a $10 million energy trading desk, specializing in market-neutral strategies. Demonstrated effective risk management, utilizing a calendar-crack box spread to capitalize on refinery closures and mitigating oil price risk with short 3-month delivery contracts. - Under the guidance of Silvia Magni, we conducted in-depth equity research on a selected company, formulated investment recommendations, and presented our findings in a persuasive pitch under a time constraint of 60 mins. - Introduced to Python coding and developed a basic algorithmic trading strategy - Participated in a Blockchain Simulation Week 3: Investment Banking - Engaged in an intensive M&A simulation, assessing Microsoft's potential acquisition of Activision. Employed DCF,sensitivity analysis, and comparable company analysis to evaluate the deal's financial implications. Created a comprehensive M&A pitch deck to present my findings. - Crafted an IPO pitch deck with 7 analysts, determining share price valuation. Team finished 1st out of 10 teams - Developed a financial model to evaluate a leveraged buyout (LBO) of a £90 million asset, with a targeted debt-to-equity ratio of 3.5x I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the AmplifyME team Anthony Cheung, Gianni Pera, James Burns, Piers Curran, Xiaoyu Zhang, Joseph Winstanley, Sam Turner O'Toole, Bogdan Golumbeanu the guest speaker and the exceptional community I met during this program. The hands-on experiences and real-world simulations have greatly enhanced my knowledge of finance and equipped me for future endeavours. This was really a life-changing experience.

Completed the AmplifyMe Finance Accelerator - Certificate Experience Gained: -First hand interaction with a trading platform -Formulation of contracts -Management of risk -Portfolio diversification -Communication between Investment banks and Asset Managers -And a host of other intricacies related to Sales & Trades and Asset Management I find these sort of opportunities really opening as they offer you with the chance to prove yourself without needing get through stages of interviews or even handing in your CV. So can't recommend it enough if you struggle with that side of breaking into Banking.

The latest chapter in my finance journey has been an incredible experience, culminating in the completion of the Summer Analyst program with AmplifyME, where I earned a Level 6 Diploma in Applied Finance with Distinction! 🏆 The program allowed me to dive deep into three fascinating areas: 🔹 Asset Management & Hedge Fund Trading: I had the exciting challenge of managing a $20M Global Macro portfolio. It was a real test of my ability to use technical analysis tools and implement long/short strategies to not only maximize returns but also hedge against risks. 🔹 Investment Banking & Corporate Finance: I got hands-on with real M&A valuations, crafting pitch decks, and seeing the IPO process from the inside—from planning the roadshow to the intricacies of book building. The experience of producing Equity Research reports and building Private Equity leveraged buyout models also expanded my understanding of the industry and provided me with invaluable insights. 🔹 Sales & Trading and Market Making: I improved my skills in understanding trade flows and optimizing bid/offer pricing. One of the most thrilling parts was trading commodity derivatives, where I used strategies like straddles and strangles to navigate market volatility effectively. 💡 Some Personal Takeaways: The Joy of Learning: The more I explore the world of finance, the more I realize how vast it is. Every day brought something new, and it reminded me to stay curious, be humble, and always be ready to absorb knowledge like a sponge. Handling Chaos: The program wasn’t without its challenges, especially when market chaos hit. But I learned the importance of cutting through the noise, staying focused on what truly matters, and only adjusting when it’s absolutely necessary—being mindful to avoid commitment bias. Embracing Imperfection: I started with the mindset of doing everything perfectly, but I quickly learned that perfection isn’t the goal—growth is.
