During my recent trip to Melbourne for a graphic recording conference, I was struck by how deeply integrated this practice is within the Australian business community. It’s not just a “nice-to-have” — graphic recording is recognised as a must-have for many private and public organisation workshops, conferences, webinars, team-building events, strategy sessions, focus groups, product launches, roundtables etc. The result? Increased attendee engagement, action and recall with longer lasting, dispersive effects. What’s even more surprising is there are dozens of graphic recorders in Melbourne alone — far more than in all of New Zealand, despite both places having similar population sizes. So, here’s the question: Why are Australian businesses eager to invest in graphic recording, while most New Zealand businesses seem hesitant to embrace this proven method for enhancing communication and engagement? It seems something is holding back New Zealand businesses from adopting a tool that has already shown its value in Australia. What are your thoughts?
