We are delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new project! 🚀 Co-CREATE is an EU-funded project which will examine the conditions for responsible research on #Solar Radiation Modification (SRM). The project aims to support decisions on whether or not, and under which circumstances, #SRM research and experiments may be warranted from scientific and societal viewpoints. 📃 Alongside this internal collaboration, the Co-CREATE project will take an extensive co-creation approach with experts, stakeholders, and rightsholders — including marginalised and affected communities, such as indigenous peoples in the #Arctic and communities across the #GlobalSouth. 👥 Critical and productive engagement will ensure that project outputs are anchored in a diversity of voices, cultural contexts, and value systems — reflecting the grappling of society with this complex and contentious issue. ➡ Follow the project page for updates: https://lnkd.in/eHH_riCK ➡ Find out more about Co-CREATE on the brand-new project website: https://lnkd.in/dVmkN3eB Perspectives Climate Group, CNRS, CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, Instytut Reform, Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, Trilateral Research, The University of Manchester, University of Twente, UCL

Contribute to a compact synthesis report of the latest ecosystem research (including social and economic perspectives) by completing a survey and please share this post within your scientific network. At this stage, we are inviting scientists from all ecosystem-related disciplines to participate in a survey to collect relevant key findings. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is open until 10 March. Please feel free to share the survey with your scientific network. Survey: https://lnkd.in/e6ZHwBkR 💡Idea: Every year, climate scientists present major synthesis reports to support international decision-making processes (e.g. “global carbon budget” or “10 new insights in climate science” at climate conferences). However, similar annual synthesis reports from a biosphere perspective are lacking. In line with the three points of Art. 2 of the Paris Agreement, we want a synthesis of new scientific knowledge in the context of (i) impacts of (current and future) climate change and other human-induced stressors on ecosystems. (ii) options for mitigation and adaptation to ecosystem crises, and (iii) ideas for effective policy design and economic approaches for sustainable ecosystem management. The aim is to publish the synthesis annually in November during the climate conferences. With the report, we present selected highlights of the latest and best research summarized in a way that is accessible to decision-makers and laypeople, and is accompanied by a peer-reviewed paper in an academic journal. The report will be accompanied by a communication campaign. Researchers from the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, the Technical University of Munich, the University of Leipzig, the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena and the Resilience Centre of the Stockholm Initiative are coordinating the project.
