Unlock the Secrets of Ceph Performance at Cephalocon! Join Marcel Lauhoff, Staff Software Engineer at Clyso, for his talk: "Understanding Ceph One Performance Counter at a Time". 📅 When: Thursday, December 5, 13:40 CET 📍 Where: Auditorium B, Cephalocon Explore the intricacies of Ceph’s performance counters and learn how to leverage them to optimize your Ceph clusters. 🎥 Can’t attend live? Don’t worry—we’ll share the video of the session as soon as it’s available! Check out all Clyso keynotes and breakout sessions here: Geneva Calling: Cephalocon is Around the Corner! We’re excited to see you there—or online! 🚀 #Cephalocon2024 #CephCommunity #OpenSource #Ceph #PerformanceOptimization #Observability What is it about: Let’s demystify Ceph performance counters by following the journey of data through the system, from the initial client I/O request to the moment it reaches the disk. We'll introduce performance counters, explaining what they are, how they work, and how to access them effectively. Using a simple workload, we'll analyze key Ceph performance counters to illustrate how data flows through various subsystems and what these metrics reveal about system performance. By understanding these metrics, attendees will gain insights into diagnosing issues and optimizing their Ceph deployments.

Are you using Proxmox VE and struggling with storage performance bottlenecks in your virtual environments? Our latest blog post dives deep into how xiRAID Opus, our software RAID engine, can significantly boost virtual machine performance in Proxmox environments. Key highlights: 💡 A single VM achieved sequential read/write speeds of 71.5 GB/s and 45 GB/s respectively 💡 Random read performance of 6.2M IOPS and random write of 1.7M IOPS within a single VM 💡 Near-linear scalability when adding multiple VMs We demonstrate how xiRAID Opus overcomes the limitations of kernel-based solutions, particularly in areas like degraded mode performance and iothread bottlenecks. Check out the full blog for detailed benchmarks, configuration steps, and insights into how we're pushing the boundaries of storage performance in virtual environments: https://lnkd.in/gg-TQfyP

Really excited about this lightning talk led by Murad Korejo at Red Hat Summit. Accelerating genomics and biostatistics research with Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. Learn how a medical research and drug development company took advantage of the scale and flexibility of Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) to accelerate data science initiatives. The session will focus on how platform engineers worked with multiple research teams to create a cloud-native, multipurpose platform for scientists to carry out high-performance computing (HPC) jobs and large-scale simulations for research related to genomics, biostatistics, and gene Therapy, resulting in 9 times more capacity available to researchers and scientists. By leveraging ROSA as an HPC backend, this company accelerated scientists' ability to analyze data for developing precise and personalized treatment plans. We will address techniques for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) as well as features of Kubernetes that are relevant to HPC use cases such as jobs, taints and tolerations, container requests/limits, third-party schedulers for job queuing, reproducibility, and regulated environments. You won't want to miss out on this session!
