We Honor Our Veterans Today and Everyday! What are some ways we can support veterans beyond just Veterans Day? Supporting veterans year-round can be as simple as volunteering with veteran organizations, hiring veterans, or advocating for policies that support their healthcare and education. Building relationships and showing appreciation goes a long way. How can we make sure we’re giving veterans the recognition they truly deserve? True recognition comes through consistent actions. This includes listening to their stories, addressing their needs, and making space for their voices in both the workplace and our communities. Acknowledging their experience with sincerity is key. Why is it so important to honor veterans, especially in today’s world? Honoring veterans is a way of preserving the values of service, sacrifice, and freedom. In a fast-paced world, we often take these things for granted, but remembering veterans helps remind us of the price of those freedoms and ensures their contributions are never forgotten. 🇺🇸 Honoring Veterans Day with Purpose and Legacy This weekend, we honor the service members among us and pay respect to their sacrifices. As a Marine veteran, a husband, and a father, Veterans Day holds a unique meaning for me. When I first left the Marines in 2007, I didn’t want to be recognized as a veteran. To many of us, service isn’t a badge of honor—it’s just a part of our past. Yet, no matter how far behind us it seems, the questions remain: Did it matter? And why? For me, service mattered because it strengthened us to live better, fuller lives—to become better parents, partners, and human beings. Veterans carry a complex toolbox of experiences, each one shaping us in ways we may not yet fully understand. Many veterans come home but, in some ways, never truly feel home. Instead of “thank you for your service,” consider saying, “Welcome home.” Those words might be the first step in their journey back to their family, and back to themselves. For me, being a veteran is about using the tools my service gave me to build a life worthy of those who didn’t make it back. It’s about creating a legacy, a family so strong it makes its own mark. As Steve Jobs said, “We are here to put a dent in the universe.” My hope is that, someday, people will see that dent and know it was left by the Killoy's. On this Veterans Day, I challenge you to see veterans as an inspiration for the life and legacy you want to create—a life filled with adventure, depth, community, and family. Build something that reaches beyond your years and well beyond the years of service we give. This is how we honor veterans on Veterans Day. Honoring Veterans on Veterans Day Today, we take a moment to honor the dedication and sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in our armed forces. Here are a few unique facts that remind us of the incredible contributions of our veterans: 📅 A Legacy of Service: Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" in 1919, marking the end of WWI. By 1954, it became the Veterans Day we know today, a time to honor veterans of all conflicts. 👩💼 Leaders and Problem-Solvers: Did you know? Veterans make up 10% of all U.S. business owners. Their leadership skills and work ethic often translate into successful ventures that benefit communities across the nation. 🌍 Continued Dedication to Service: Veterans remain active in their communities after active duty. Statistics show that veterans are 30% more likely to volunteer, proving that their commitment to helping others never fades. 🕰️ Continuous Vigilance: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery has been guarded continuously since 1937, a powerful symbol of commitment and respect. Today, let's celebrate and thank our veterans for their bravery, integrity, and dedication, which inspire us all. #VeteransDay #HonoringService #Gratitude
