Last Thursday, CNC attended the Queensland Major Contractors Association (QMCA) Major Projects Pipeline 2024 briefing. The event, which featured Deputy Premier Hon. Jarrod Bleijie MP, provided valuable insights into the future of Queensland’s contracting sector and highlighted key upcoming construction projects. A major takeaway was the continued rise of mega-projects in Queensland, each worth over $1 billion. Regional areas like Wide Bay, Brisbane’s Southwest, and Fitzroy were identified as key opportunities for growth. However, challenges such as competing investments, cost pressures, and industry sustainability remain significant hurdles. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry leaders and explore collaborative ways to boost productivity across the sector. A special thanks to the QMCA for organising another outstanding event—we look forward to the next one. If you have a project in Queensland and require CNC’s expert services, don’t hesitate to get in touch at bd@cncprojects.com.au. Let’s work together. #CNCProjectManagement #QMCA #QLDProjects #QLDInfrastructure

On the back of Offsite Expo, it’s clear that if offsite construction is to succeed, it needs to be considered from the very outset of a project. Indeed, despite Offsite Construction’s title, the process stretches far before and beyond the final construction and assembly phase. This is where DfMA comes in. Read our full article to find out more about how you can incorporate a DfMA approach on your next project 👉 https://buff.ly/2W6v34l #DfMA #offsite #construction

Following on from Guidelines and the national steelwork standards produced to help the industry recognise, specify and expect the highest standards, quality and competence this latest Specification has been produced to encompass the growing use of Light-gauge steel in the UK and Ireland . It represents, as the headline states, the best of the thinking from the industry to help improve the whole
Developed by the industry, for the industry, we collectively encourage the use of the NLSS to standardise the light-gauge industry and raise the quality of outputs and reassure designers. Supported by Steel Construction Institute and Light Steel Forum https://ow.ly/JHc550TLqWL #light-gaugesteel #modernmethodsofconstruction #mmc

The response so far has been great for this new and extremely valuable standard at a time when there is not only a desire to improve the construction industry quality and competence but significant developments and actions.
The NLSS is out now providing a solid framework for specifiers, manufacturers and installers of light-gauge steel to work to. Andrew Way will be presenting an online talk 'Light Steel Frames for New Housing' as part of the New Homes in New Ways exhibition at the building centre. The new NLSS will be covered in the talk too. - #BCSA Introduces Light-Gauge #Steelwork Specification to Address #HousingShortage - The UK’s housing shortage is driving the growing adoption of Modern Methods of Construction (#MMC), with light-gauge steel set to play a pivotal role. To support the increased use of cold-formed, #galvanizedsteel, the British Constructional #Steelwork Association (BCSA) has introduced the first-ever National Light-Gauge Steelwork Specification (#NLSS). Developed in collaboration with the #construction industry and steel manufacturers, the NLSS provides a comprehensive framework for incorporating #lightgaugesteel into construction contracts. This ensures that all stakeholders, including clients, designers, contractors, and manufacturers, can have confidence in the quality and regulatory compliance of light-gauge steelwork. BCSA Chief Executive #JonathanClemens emphasized that light-gauge steel is crucial to modular construction, offering strength, durability, and lightness, making it ideal for residential projects. He also noted that the Building Safety Act has heightened industry focus on competence and safety, and the NLSS reinforces this by establishing #highstandards across the light-gauge steel industry. #steelnews #constructionnews #BCSAnews #housingcrisis

Imagine lowering 180 pre-cast beams, each the size of a school bus 🚌, 31 meters underground. That is just one of the engineering features our collegues at CPB Contractors (CIMIC Group Limited) achieved to complete the construction of Cross River Rail’s Albert Street Station. Let’s take a look at this milestone: 🚧 ✔️Mezzanine level: Built by lowering 180 pre-cast beams, each 19 meters long and 70 tonnes, down a 31-meter-long access shaft. ✔️Platform level: Constructed from more than 365 precast culverts, each weighing 6.5 tonnes, to create a 220-meter platform 31 meters below ground level. CPB Contractors is delivering the Cross River Rail Tunnel, Stations and Development package in a consortium alongside fellow Pacific Partnerships and UGL (CIMIC).
