The dry weather really sucks. This can cause foundation and footer shifting problems as well. You can literally water your foundation and grade around your house in weather conditions like what we’ve been experiencing. Keeping the ground around your house moist, can help prevent shifting of the footer and foundation. If those shift and crack, you can experience structural issues with your home. If doors are sticking and windows become inoperable, you may want to consider a structural engineer and/or foundation company to come take a look. Also, make sure your sump pumps are working, because when it starts raining again, you’ll need them for sure!
What can a drought do to a home? Ground shrinkage (for one). The weather has been dry recently, and the ground can shrink around the home’s foundation. This can lead to water intrusion into the basement, through cracks that are not visible, or through emanation. Basements should be monitored closely for any potential future water intrusion, when regular rain begins again. Because they will certainly leak. #cincinnatirealestate #kentuckyrealestateagent #kentuckyrealtor #homeinspection #indianarealtor #getahomeinspection #CincinnatiRealtor #certifiedmasterinspector #homeinspector
