Polish online media outlet Tygodnik Polityka has comprehensively summarised our interview series “The Next 20 Years”. We started this series to celebrate the 20th anniversary since eight CEE countries joined the European Union. Together with CEE business and political leaders, we discussed the future we are building in our region with the EU, asking them what lies ahead. While acknowledging undeniable progress, leaders cautioned that the era of "easy growth" is over. Navigating a complex geopolitical landscape demands innovation and adaptability. Despite these uncertainties, invited stakeholders maintain strong belief in the potential of the CEE region and Poland. This series is a collection of different perspectives contributing to the vision of the future of CEE. Poland leads as Europe's top economy. Here is why: We spent two exciting days with the executive teams of two TDJ portfolio companies - PGO S.A. and enson. Our meetings reconfirmed our view that Poland is in a league of its own: -> Superior infrastructure, evenly spread nationwide. -> Robust local businesses with deep roots in key industries shaping the fundamentals of the economy. -> Driven, educated, ambitious management. -> A firewall against the entitled, spoiled, WOKE working culture of Western Europe that delivers an irreparable blow to productivity and competitiveness. An example to follow!

As part of Cluster Meet Regions Charleroi 2024 / AGORADA+, a panel discussion titled "Connecting Regional and Local Economic Development Strategies with Clusters" is underway. Panellists Sophie Bourez, Sebastien Durieux, Philippe Lachapelle, and Vicky Wildemeersch are delving into the dynamics of the Wallonia ecosystem. The Walloon Region's clustering policy is supported by two types of structures: business clusters and competitive clusters. ◼️ Business clusters are funded to foster economic activities and promote innovative partnerships across industrial, commercial, and technological domains. ◼️ Competitive clusters, on the other hand, focus on implementing projects in investment, R&D, and workforce training, aligned with the strategic competitive positioning they have independently defined. This dual-approach framework ensures that both types of clusters contribute effectively to the region’s economic development and innovation ecosystem.
