I've been going through some older photos/videos of our first days at Return Home, and it's made me realize a few things. As the first funeral director hired, I had the privilege of steering conversations in directions far removed from those in traditional funeral service. Our approach isn't only about offering alternatives like terramation; it's about fundamentally changing how we discuss and engage with the process of saying goodbye.
Since joining the team, I've navigated complex, often uncharted discussions that challenge conventional norms. These conversations are not typical in more traditional settings, where, from my experience, the dialogue can feel a bit restricted.
So, why do we push these boundaries? Because every family is unique, and their needs during such a critical time are diverse. By embracing and initiating these atypical discussions, we empower families to make choices that truly reflect their values and desires, leading to very personalized and meaningful experiences. In this family's case, however, we went a bit more traditional, which is what they needed!
This journey has taught me that innovation in funeral care isn't just about the services we offer but also about the conversations we dare to initiate. 💚
