A+E firms often underinvest in Business Development. One of the takeaways from a stellar webinar, The Zen of A+E Practice Management, from Enoch Sears, AIA LEED AP of Business of Architecture. He mentions... "We can continue to exist in a state of scarcity, in a state of maybe not getting the right projects, or we can work out a systematic approach to be able to grow our network consistently." ...and calls out BD and networking as one of the top areas for firms to increase awareness.

What's it like working with a team to produce Let's Build #architecture events all year? From graphics, social media, and copy to speakers, venues, food & drink, sponsors, and more, it’s a whirlwind! Lockdown got us comfy working solo even with a remote team (in the background kind-of), but now we're still itching for face-to-face, in-person human interactions. Since it ended, we still crave in-person human interactions and connections. For most of us, the shift back to the office shows it, and is (still) teaching us how to juggle being in-person and working with a remote team online/ others working-from-home. It's like we forgot how to socialize, but now we're relearning! Being in a team of 10, 15, 20? It’s no walk in the park—dealing with different personalities and work styles can be tough. Collaborating with our team (some in-person and remote) is interesting. But, we thrive on it, producing top-notch events every year. This year is no different; we’re back at London Festival of Architecture AGAIN! As timber construction makes its way from the margins to the mainstream of construction activity it could be that proof that timber hospitals have shorter occupancy levels is the turbo booster we need for a dramatic, rather than the current steady, increase in the use of timber in construction. Shorter occupancy linked to the health benefits of timber buildings would save large sums of (often public) money. Add in wooden schools and universities with higher educational results and wooden offices with higher productivity and we could see the order books for timber builds explode upwards.
