When the time comes to change the rubber tracks on your mini/midi excavator, it’s worth considering all factors such as usage, maintenance, surface type and budget. Here are some pros & cons for choosing rubber tracks: CONS: • High Performance on Softer Ground – rubber tracks don’t damage or tear up turf or grass. • Reduced vibration – this can reduce noise levels and can help the equipment drive faster than if on pads or shoes. • Higher Comfort Levels for Operator – less vibration means a smoother ride for the operator which helps boost productivity. • Cost effective – Rubber tracks offer a cheaper alternative to a set of full steel shoes PROS: • Tough work on rough surfaces – rubber tracks can operate on gravel or small rocks but they will cause more damage to the track surface. • Sun exposure can be harmful – long periods of exposure to the sun can cause accelerated wear on rubber tracks. • Avoid chemical spillages – rubber doesn’t tend to react well to oils & chemicals that may be found around job sites, contact with chemicals may cause damage.
