🎊 The second anniversary of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (#KMGBF) is fast approaching! In the run-up to December 19th, let's take a look back at the historic document that reshaped global biodiversity policy. ❗ Adopted during COP15 back in 2022, the Framework set 23 ambitious targets for 2030 and 4 broader goals for 2050. So far, 119 countries have aligned their national biodiversity benchmarks to those of the KM GBF. 🤝 This document came about as a result of four years of arduous research and negotiations and set the new standard for the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity. #Biodiversity #ForNature #ForOurPlanet

A key outcome of the UN Convention on Biodiversity was the adoption in 2022 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which includes 23 goals to help stop biodiversity loss by 2030. Investors are critical in assessing a company’s biodiversity impact and the related operational, legislative, and reputational risks. In collaboration with Visual Capitalist, we’ve developed this infographic summarizing how investors can integrate biodiversity into their investment strategies. In 2022, the countries that are Party to the UN Biodiversity convention adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework to tackle biodiversity loss. Under this framework, nations agree to a list of specific targets, one of which is to provide at least $20 billion a year to developing countries by 2025, increasing to at least $30 billion a year by 2030. Despite developed countries committing to these targets, a new research from ODI, a leading global affairs think tank, finds only two countries were paying their fair share of the biodiversity finance and the overwhelming majority of developed countries were not providing even half of their fair share. Kudos to Laetitia Pettinotti, Yue Cao, Tony Mwenda Kamninga and Sarah Colenbrander for this work commissioned by Campaign for Nature.
