Education is essential for protecting children during and after a crisis – an escape from the horrors of the present and hope for the future. It saves and sustains lives. It is critical to reducing risks, especially to the most vulnerable, enabling mental health and psychosocial support to help children and youth cope with and recover from crises. #StopTheWarOnChildren Save the Children International

Over 80% of Texans support increased #txed funding for things like before- and after-school programs, mental health services, school supplies, and transportation. Meanwhile, over 60% of school districts are operating in deficit budgets with funding that is well below what the #txlege passed in 2019 with HB3. Student services like these will continue to decline until the Texas Legislature takes action.

As the challenges faced by families continue to grow, so does the demand for our support services. The current cost of living crisis has placed significant strain on many families we assist, exacerbating issues such as isolation, mental health concerns, and difficulties in managing children's behaviour. Coupled with existing challenges like housing instability and family conflicts, our parents and caregivers require increasingly comprehensive support. Our organisation plays a vital role in providing assistance during these trying times, offering essential help to navigate these complex situations. Helping to give children the best possible start in life, this ethos of support and early intervention underpins everything we do. Cost should never stand in the way of early intervention, especially when it comes to children's mental health. By providing support to children and their families now, we can create opportunities for them to develop resilience and work together as a community to address this pressing issue. Let's work towards a future where mental health care is accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation. #mentalhealthawareness #earlyintervention #communitysupport
One of the biggest barriers families face when seeking mental health support and resources is cost. (As many as 1 in 5 children and youth in Ontario will experience some form of mental health problem- cmho.org) That's why M.I.understanding programs and resources are available to families and organizations that work with families at no cost. We are able to do that thanks to our partnership with CCOF and community sponsors like General Dynamics. Help us create a community of support for families struggling with children's mental health. miunderstanding.ca

This is very insightful. In a recent analysis by EduDream, education stakeholders reported that overall investment in education has not kept pace with the increasing demands placed on it, including wraparound services for students and families. All the while, there has been a decrease in funding key nutrition, health and family support programs. What can policymakers do to address funding gaps and support families and students? #education #schoolfunding #supportstudents #communityschools

Too many students are getting addicted to their electronic devices. Of course, you already knew that. And social media can be a nightmare; sometimes an unsafe place to be. So, make sure to include "other things" in your child's daily/weekly routine. Have a snack time (no electronics). Do homework (no electronics). Play outside and get some fresh air (no electronics). You get the point. Do a family activity. Play board games. Watch TV or a movie. Read a book; a real book (not electronic). Learn to have some "quiet time". Go to the park, go swimming, get some ice cream, or have a "Library Day". Play a sport or learn how to play an instrument. There are so many things (in the real world) to do, and so much to explore. And when your student is on electronic devices and social media, consider these safety tips. Try to strike a healthy balance between virtual and reality.
