A bill introduced into Parliament last week proposes several improvements to the regulatory framework for the resources industry. If passed, the Mineral and Energy Resources and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 will see clearer processes and more efficient, transparent approvals across resources legislation. The changes will provide greater certainty for industry and increase community and industry confidence in decision-making. The bill also includes proposed coexistence reforms, and will be considered by the Clean Economy Jobs, Resources, and Transport Committee. These improvements are part of our 30-year plan for the resources industry. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/gdb5QJV5 #QRIDP

While I’m generally supportive of clean energy production, I am of the mind our local FN leadership should remain neutral on the matter until the process plays out. Speaking to a project in advance can call into question the process and impartiality thereof. Moreover, as one of the majority of citizens who resides off-reserve, zero information has flowed out to inform us on this pumped storage proposal, which is not only a concern but poses a risk to the project. Participant and engagement funding should encompass modes of engaging off-reserve majority. These knowledge and capacity building exercises should strengthen Nation-building regardless of place. We’re either all citizens or we’re not, and proponents at can play an important yet silent role in supporting Nation-building by providing enough capacity to engage citizens outside community.
