109,000. That’s the number of children and teens waiting to be adopted who are at risk of aging out of foster care without permanent family connections. Each November, #NationalAdoptionMonth renews our commitment to creating brighter futures for our children and recognizing the individuals who make a meaningful difference in their lives. We invite you to join us in spreading awareness all month long, and if you feel called to make a difference in a child’s life through adoption, visit sccfl.org/adopt to learn more.

Children who can't safely remain with their parents do better with kin than with strangers in #FosterCare. But kinship families outside the formal system aren't eligible for crucial supports that foster families receive. Also, outcomes of children diverted from foster care to kinship care are not tracked and these children have no plans to work toward reunification with their parents. Our systems can do much more to ensure good outcomes for children in #KinshipCare. When children are first admitted to foster care, it is requested that we provide them a “place of safety”. But for those who have experienced trauma, feeling safe requires far more than a location. A compassionate, loving foster home is the environment where we can begin to form #connection, build #trust, and promote #healing. That is when foster children, youth, and young adults can begin to feel safe — truly safe. 🔷 Learn about who we are: 🔹 https://lnkd.in/g6GFm6rm 🔶 How we prioritize trauma-informed care: 🔸 https://lnkd.in/geuhwSY7 #connectionmatters #fostercare #fosterparents #fosterparenting #childwelfare #traumainformedcare #gabormate

Before you foster, make sure the child had not been medically kidnapped from a loving family after a misdiagnosis of abuse while they were SICK. Hamilton Child and Family Supports REPEATEDLY takes part in medical kidnappings of SICK children misdiagnosed as abuse victims by doctors contracted by CAS at McMaster hospital. Even after they are proven wrong at court, tgey refuse to take any accountability for their actions and implement steps to prevent the same injustice from happening again. Examples?
