ASHP - House of Delegates - Call for Nominations It is that time of year again for our call for PA Delegate nominations. Whether self-nominating or you wish to nominate someone known to you to be worthy and available to meet the requirements of a Delegate. Currently Pennsylvania holds four seats in the ASHP House of Delegates and five additional Delegates serve as alternate, in case a Regular Delegate is unable to meet a requirement listed below. We currently have one Regular Delegate (3-year term) opening and two Alternate Delegate (2-year term) openings. All delegates and alternate delegates must be active members of ASHP. Duties of Delegates: The Chair of the House of Delegates will conduct a welcome webinar in late February or early March to provide new and returning delegates with an overview of service requirements before participating in the March 2025 virtual House of Delegates. The Chair also regularly communicates with delegates through email messages to alert delegates to upcoming action items. Regional Delegate Conferences are scheduled for April 26-29, 2025 and it is recommended that delegates attend one of these sessions. The House of Delegates will meet in-person on two separate occasions at the 2025 ASHP Pharmacy Futures Meeting, scheduled to be held June 7-11, 2025 in Charlotte, NC. Additional virtual House of Delegates may be held in May 205 and November 2025 and/or at additional times, as deemed necessary. European Parliament confirms Bruna Szego as AMLA Chair (Update 18 Dec 2024): Earlier today, the full European Parliament (Plenary) voted to confirm Bruna Szego as AMLA Chair. Szego’s appointment was overwhelmingly approved with 569 MEPs voting in favour and just 20 against (and 61 abstentions). This means that Szego now only needs to secure formal approval from EU governments before she can take office. This is widely expected to take place in the coming weeks, allowing Szego to begin as AMLA Chair in January. Once Szego’s appointment is completed, the political focus will shift to the nomination of the 5 AMLA Executive Board members. The AMLA Liaison Office will provide an update on the state of this process early in the new year. Last night, Bruna Szego successfully passed the first stage of her confirmation as AMLA Chair. Following a joint hearing, the European Parliament (EP) Economic Affairs and Justice Committees voted by 103 to 10 (with 8 abstentions) to confirm Szego’s nomination. This was widely expected, given MEPs’ support for Szego at the pre-nomination stage in November. The next step will be a vote in the full EP (Plenary). Brussels sources report this could take place later this week. Again, Szego is all but certain to be confirmed. Once the EP process is complete, her nomination must also be approved by EU governments. This too can happen quickly, potentially in January. Szego could then take office (as AMLA’s first official employee) early in 2025.

Once against it's AGM season, so far two completed and three more to go. It's always interesting to see who turns up and why. Yesterday's was amazing with a full capacity of members with the room full to busting. The committee also did an excellent job by not repeating their reports as provided in the AGM pack but just focusing on some key highlights. Another aspect that has worked well is the use of online voting for directors and any amendments to clauses, this shows the benefit of IT in one of its simplest forms but allows the AGM to be more flowing. So the key take aways so far. Ahead of the meeting Develop an AGM pack with the board members updates vote for directors online vote for any amendments online During the meeting Provide key highlights Updates on any amendments Allow members to contribute. Now onto the next one.
