The Essential Guide to Electrical Upgrading for Villas and Buildings in Dubai When building a new services block, extending a property with over 600 square feet, or installing a car charger rated at 40A and above in Dubai, it's essential to upgrade your electrical system through DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority). This ensures compliance with regulations, efficiency, and the ability to meet increasing power demands. Steps to the DEWA Electrical Upgrading Process: Surveying & Load Calculation Conduct a detailed survey to assess the current and proposed electrical loads. Prepare load schedules, layouts, and shop drawings, including power, lighting, HVAC, and mechanical systems. Apply for DEWA NOC and Approval Submit the shop drawings to DEWA for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and approval. DEWA will provide an estimate for the required upgrades. Payment of DEWA Estimate Pay the estimated cost to proceed with the upgrading work. Execution of Electrical Works Begin electrical works according to DEWA-approved drawings, ensuring compliance during the construction or extension phase. DEWA Site Inspection After completion, request a DEWA inspection to confirm the installation meets their standards. Cable Installation DEWA will install the cable between the substation and the new meter cabinet, with the contractor completing the termination. Electrical Meter Installation Follow up with DEWA for the installation of the new meter and release of the power supply. Why Electrical Upgrading is Important: Electrical upgrading is crucial for safety, efficiency, and functionality. It prevents hazards like electrical fires, ensures compliance with modern regulations, and supports increased power demands from modern appliances. Upgrades improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity costs, and support renewable energy. Additionally, they enhance property value, reduce maintenance costs, and help minimize environmental impact. Stay tuned for more tips on MEP systems and electrical solutions. #Dubai #ElectricalUpgrading #MEP #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #ConstructionTips #SmartSolutions #MBRHE
