From real-time updates on schedules, results, placements, and rankings, this app puts crucial event details right into the palm of your hand. 🤠 Here’s the scoop on what we built: - Event Scheduling: Get notified directly on your mobile device, ensuring you never miss your event. - Real-Time Results: Stay updated with instant access to rankings and results. - Powered by Elixir: Our choice of Elixir for the backend meant the app could handle thousands of users simultaneously without breaking a sweat, ensuring reliability even during the busiest rodeos. 🔧 Challenges? Sure, we had them. Achieving real-time data accuracy and managing large user loads were tough. But leveraging Elixir's robust fault tolerance and efficient real-time processing, we not only met but exceeded expectations. 💬 The feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Participants can now focus more on their performance rather than worry about logistical hassles. I’m currently participating in a hackathon hosted by RevenueCat 🐱 I’m developing a mobile app called NutriLog, designed to make nutrient tracking more accessible. NutriLog allows users to log the foods and drinks they consume, with the convenience of adding items by simply scanning a UPC barcode. While the idea itself isn’t entirely new, I was inspired to build this app because I’m a regular user of MyFitnessPal. Unfortunately, MyFitnessPal’s barcode scanning feature is now locked behind their Premium package, which costs $19.99/month 😳. What’s even crazier is that this feature used to be free! With NutriLog, barcode scanning will always be free. The app’s revenue model is straightforward: run ads and offer an ad-free experience via a monthly subscription. Here’s a peek at the tech stack and tools I’m using: • Frontend: React/React Native • Backend: Express • Database: MongoDB • APIs: Open Food Facts, RevenueCat SDK I’ll be sharing my journey over the next month, including progress updates, challenges, and lessons learned.
