pre-pmf, there are three core problems that every startup has to solve: 1. How do you acquire customers? 2. How do you get customers to the magic ‘aha’ moment of your product as quickly as possible? 3. How do you deliver core product value as often as possible? (core engagement) and then, once you’ve established this product motion, how do you make money off of 1-3 and capture more value? that’s it. via Chamath Palihapitiya

My three takeaways from three exceptional founders and nominees of the Leading Entrepreneur in Tech (LET) Awards! Jonas Ruyter (DataSnipper) - Shared how the success of DataSnipper is a result of an obsession with the client and product. As he mentioned during the presentation, DataSnipper hired their first commercial hire after 4 years in operation 😶! Wouter Durville (TestGorilla) - Explained that having an amazing investor is golden! Telling the founders how big their business could become, gave them the confidence to dream big—bigger. As he mentioned, think backwards: what does it mean to serve 1 billion people 🎯? Kees Aarts (Protix) - Stressed how important it is to be curious and not afraid to fail. Persevere, get beyond all the failures you make, and fail by example; from this, great ideas will come 💡. Ironically, all three gentlemen touched on the topic of advice, summarizing it as this: don’t listen to anyone, and when you become bigger, start to listen. Stay naive and keep going! Congrats Kees Aarts for securing the award, and thanks to Techleap for hosting this cool event!

Reinvent or Die 💀💀 A lot of companies are faced with that decision which ends up taking their business in a completely different direction. We are doing a panel at FailFest of founders that had to make the hard decision of shutting the doors of one business idea and move a completely different direction. Tag a founder that would be awesome to highlight on this panel in the comments. #failfest #failforward

Yesterday, at least one person clicked a link on ten of my LinkedIn posts. Food for thought on posting/CTAs. In case you're unfamiliar, CTA stands for Call to Action. If the post resonates, what's the next step? Most often, I want to share an invitation to learn more about my startup, Bold Xchange, of course. For birthdays, anniversaries, milestones, closed business, etc., we're making local eGift cards a thing. Here's your invitation 😅; see how our software works below (via a 2-minute interactive demo): https://2ly.link/1zHCJ

We were super stoked when Harley Ferguson (very enthusiastically) agreed to be on HOTLINE & talk MVP's! ☎ There are so many nuggets o' wisdom in this episode that have stuck with me since we recorded. Listen to the episode with these in mind: 1. Standing out from the crowd: There is a lot of reference (naturally) to how tall Harley is. But that is very symbolic to me. Harley stands out in his way of thinking and in standing up for what he believes is right, even at the beginning of his career. 2. Helping aspiring Developers: Recognising that he made many mistakes throughout his career that cost him time, Harley wants to help other keen developers accelerate their growth and avoid the mistakes he made. Check out Ask Harley https://lnkd.in/dnjSgCWh 3. Find your tribe Finding your community of engaged, driven and empathetic people who want to do good work with good people. 🎙 If you enjoyed this episode (& podcast), pls share it. And if you have any requests for who and what else you would like to hear from, drop that below. 👇 ☎ Hotline by SAME is the 911 call you make to your business bestie. We all need one, we'll be yours.

We have Harley Ferguson on HOTLINE! 🎙️ When a 2.1m tall Dev walks onto the Startup Club ZA stage in a bright pink hoodie, you notice. 👀 What we also noticed is Harley and Origen Software | A Product Building Company’s deep passion for helping Founders build the best product. In our 4th episode of Hotline, we get to know Harley and his career journey, how to leverage standing out from the crowd, and common mistakes Founders make when building an MVP. Starting with the 3 P’s - Problem - Product - People If you’re thinking of starting or have already started, we know this one will be super valuable! Take a listen here: https://lnkd.in/dPvGbDUn ________________________ Ways to connect with Harley: harley@origensoftware.com linkedin.com/in/askharley https://www.askharley.me/ https://lnkd.in/dzBkFVXy A big thank you to Mathew Marsden for creating these opportunities for the tech ecosystem to connect!
