Just finished my first week as a Full Stack Software Developer at Parq! Here's what I've learned so far: • 🧠 The ability to pick things up on the fly is perhaps more valuable than prior experience. You can't know everything, but if you can learn anything, you bring value immediately. • ⏩ Start-ups are fast-paced. Goals have to be identified, organized, prioritized, and met on time. Making that process a well-oiled machine is critical to success. • ⚙️ Create a hypothesis and test it. Keep that hypothesis in mind during the whole task in order to stay on target. • 💯 Presentation is everything. Doesn't matter if you're an engineer or a sales person -- a great product that looks terrible (or has a terrible demo) might as well be a bad product. • 🥪 Take a lunch break. Maybe a walk break too. Stepping away from a problem for a few minutes and coming back can give you a fresh perspective, getting you to a solution faster than banging your head against it when you're hungry. • 🦆 Talk through problems. Rubber duck debugging is real and it helps. (Better with a human, though) This first week at Parq has been full of great projects and great learning opportunities! Shoutout to Walker Ryan, our CEO, for his vision, drive, and passion for delivering epic products to customers. Shoutout to James White, our head engineer, for his amazing teaching ability, technical expertise, and level head when things get sticky.

🛠️ "Why ownership matters in software development." At Hooligan Development, one of our core values is ownership. For us, it’s more than just delivering a product; it’s about being fully invested in the success of every project we touch. Recently, a client shared this with us: "Your team made us feel like our goals were your goals." That’s the kind of feedback we live for. It’s proof that when you take ownership, you go beyond being just a service provider—you become a true partner. When a team truly takes ownership, you’ll feel the difference. And if you’re not feeling that with your current partners—maybe it’s time to rethink things. What does ownership mean to you in your work or your partnerships? Let’s discuss. 💬

Day 1 # The fictional company, Primal Wears, which produces and distributes combat sport wear, wants to promote its products to a wider audience. The CTO believes the best way to begin is to build a robust MVP on the web and has suggested that they employ the services of a handsome and devious software engineer to get this done. Who will answer the call? There is only one man for the job—Marvellous Amos, AKA Kulture—the Night King. (PS: Prince Joshua, Golden M. Monday, and Miracle Alozie can attest to this.) Today, Kulture analyzed the product and decided to develop an admin panel first. This web-based admin panel is an interface that allows administrators at Primal Wears to control the future commerce platforms' settings, features, and configurations. This app will feature a personalized view of key data, reports, and sales performance indicators, along with secured user validation and role-based access clearance for specific professionals in the company. What step will the night king take next? Will he choose the tech stack or something out of order? We can only wait to find out. #100DaysOfCode #teamForge #kulture

Happy Work Anniversary! Today Situation Group is celebrating 1 year since Senior Front-End Developer Angel Centeno re-joined the team! Cheers to many more! Here's what Angel's team had to say about him: "Angel's cool, approachable attitude makes him a joy to work with, even in the most stressful situations." "I love Angel’s willingness to throw himself into any challenge—whether it’s a difficult coding task or dominating at Mario Kart! His positivity and enthusiasm are a breath of fresh air for all who get the opportunity to work with him." "Angel is a ray of light for the dev team. He's funny, conversational, and a pleasure to work with." "Angel has these amazing, stealth pockets of expertise that he pulls from to save the day when we’re trying something we’ve never done before. He’s a generous colleague who always brings friendly vibes into the room. And if you want to get your a** handed to you, challenge him to a round of Mario Kart sometime." #FrontEndDeveloper #EmployeeAppreciation #AgencyLife #FullServiceAgency #DigitalMarketing

We lost our dream dev team. Here's how we got the magic back: I run a mobile co-dev studio, with 45+ devs. The team is fantastic, working together for 7+ years. Halfway through a project, I noticed something off. Devs were ticking off tasks, not building the game. Focused on finalizing the version rather than sharing their feelings about what they were doing. I felt like I lost my UGI dream team. I had been too focused on KPIs. The dream team were acting more like contractors. Rather than creators. We discussed this after a retrospective. They should be totally involved in development. Here is what we did: - 1:1 Mentorship - Department calls We got back the magic, led that all voices matter. The dream UGI team was back! This can happen accidentally in bigger projects. Which is why when approached by bigger publishers. (even if the request is art-only assets) We research the competition. We suggest changes. We go deep. We bring back the magic 🪄 P.S If this resonated with you. Happy to connect 🤝
