I am loving how #intentionality is being emphasized in #design vernacular nowadays, whether considering the final design itself or the process by which each design results. Between the Intentional Spaces Summit hosted by the International Arts + Mind Lab, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Pedersen Brain Science Institute back in October and this new featurette by Gensler about the #IntentionalWorkplace, #deliberatedesign that originates in integrity, vision, and meaning seems to be the way of the present and future. I had a great weekend at CoreNet Global's DC Summit, themed 'Fueling Human Connections'. I enjoyed being part of a great panel on 'Rethinking the Office Sector' highlighting global employee workplace experience trends, and how both tenants and building owners incorporate experience into their placemaking investments. Despina Katsikakis emphasized the inextricable link between work and community, highlighting that work is a key driver of place and the city. Companies new focus on future-proofing portfolios, delivering cost savings, and mitigating risks while improving corporate culture and community experience, and delivering on ESG commitments. I highlighted global workplace experience trends from Cushman & Wakefield's Experience per Square Foot™ (XSF) diagnostic which revealed the drop in #WorkplaceExperience and productivity due to the steady decline in employee #wellbeing. We highlighted the new purpose of the office around human connection and concerns that only 56% of legacy space meets this new purpose. Stacey Foxwell shared insights from NPR's XSF experience results, noting the importance of uncovering the drivers of your employee's workplace experience and investing in workplace features that employees value most, such as commuting support, NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts, and onsite dining options, design and technology enhancements. Ronen Journo discussed Hines' approach to the future of real estate for #landlords and building investors, highlighting the importance of #placemaking, community curation, and creating spaces that foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration. #Engagement #CRE #Workplace
